Oh definately. I was thinking the same thing about the LA Riots. Your mad at a bunch of people in the valley and they burn downtown? Yeah not seeing the logic there either.

    Think of it this way....

Here is a group of people who could be immediately deported, and yet they are bold enough to throw rocks at the police. I am a citizen, and I would never do that, partly out of fear of repercussion. They are no longer afraid, they know we will cave in and do what they want and I firmly believe that their numbers will grow, and grow quickly.

I am not saying that every illegal will become an Aztlanista, nor that the majority will become such. But it can still get very ugly, IMHO.

I heard one study say that 20% of ALL Mexicans living in Mexico already have US Citizenship. I'm not sure if this is true or not.

Wow...such paranoia! If we actually REFORMED the system top to bottom (which was NOT done in 1986...we're still working with a circa 1950's immigration system), then illegal immigration would be reduced to virtually nothing.

    >>I am not saying that every illegal will become an Aztlanista<<

You implied it. It is the belief of the extreme right that this is the goal...so please...

    >>, nor that the majority will become such. But it can still get very ugly, IMHO.<<

I'm sure it can. That's why you arrest people who are behaving violently. They're actually committing CRIMES.

But the way the law is written now, illegal presence is little more than a traffic ticket with a serious punishment (a ban on reentry for 10 years).

Are you trying to suggest the people in this country without a passport or a visa are not committing a crime?

Under the current law, it is a civil infraction. That makes it no more serious than a traffic ticket in terms of law. Now, the House of Representatives has classified illegal presence, as well as providing any assistance to an illegal immigrant, whether you know it or not, an aggrivated felony, but that provision will be removed in the conference committee for sure.

Yeah, a lot of whom are Mexican CATHOLICS. A little known fact about Mexican Catholics...they are VERY loyal to the Magisterium and will vote they way the Church teaches...guess what that means...PRO-LIFE. Helloooo!

you forgot about the part where they kicked your dog, stile your vase, and burnt your pictures. Than crapped on your rug and rubbed your face in it. But you were close.

Love how the church assimilates them like Borg. "We are church, we will break into your country and do as we are told" beep beep

Huh? No, more like an answer to the notion that the Democrat party would benefit by legalizing illegal immigrants. If it happens, the ones that become citizens are not likely to vote for people who are pro-choice because of their religious beliefs (which, among Mexicans, is predominantly Catholic).

By the way, it is insulting to imply that the Church is "breaking into the country." The Catholic Church has been a part of the United States since the beginning. Of course, a good portion of immigrants have always been Catholics...the Italians, the Irish, etc. But it's certainly not an attempt by the Church to "break in to the country," merely evangelization through aculturation. :)

You can't deny the deep piety of Mexicans when it comes to their religion...just try to drive through any Mexican neighborhood without seeing a painting of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Patroness of the Americas).

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners!
¡Santa Maria, madre de Dios, ruega por nosotros pecadores!
Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus!

umm .... not every democrat thinks this way.
    <--- *clears throat*

(incidentally, I had my chance to go infront of a camera in Beverly Hills today, local tv news channel, and speak my mind about the protest yesterday - Thought about it for a moment, and declined. )

I can tell you that in the city of Chicago itself-- the largest archdiocese in US -- the exit polls last election had 68% of the Catholic vote Democratic --- seems as long as Mayor Daley is a Democrat they forget the pro life vs pro choice question.

Also Hispanic Catholic vote 58% Kerry 39% Bush in 2004 -- so tell me again how they are going to vote -- especially if the Dems are the ones to get them to stay illegally ?
