And the theme-ing, I am the builders/contractors/Disney designers have found a way to make everything come together but yet have each of the lands different from the next.

I was also pleased to see Aladdin still playing to a packed house. Waiting in line for an hour to ge on TSMM, I saw the Pier packed with people, and the carny games actually doing some business. The park had a much different feel to it than it did in 2002. The crowds gave it the energy it lacked back then, and all the major construction gives it a sense of greater things to come. People were smiling and laughing, and I think that there is a sense of familiarity and comfort among the guests now that wasn't there before. It'll be a few years before I go back, after Ariel's Adventure and Carsland are open, but I expect that it won't feel anything at all like the DCA I visited in 2002.

You mentioned three separate areas smack-dab in the center of the park that have no significant attractions. Pacific Wharf is a highly themed food court. The winery is a pricey dining and drinking spot that's often closed altogether. And 'Bugs' is a kiddyland with rides that only the littlest toddlers can enjoy. That's a lot of centrally located square footage devoted to not very much. When you add in the wide performance corridor, the vineyards and the space taken up by the stale but enormous 'tough to be a bug', it begins to seem like the entire center of the park is a kind of 'dead zone' with very little entertainment value for most of the park's daily guests. It all looks pleasant enough, there's just not much to do there.

People are happy and there are long lines. It's getting passed the negative taste before you enter the park that fanboys and the press have drilled into people's minds is the problem. What bothers me is if these changes for 2012 are sucessful will Disney say "Its popular now. We don't need a phase 2." If that happens, the park will look half way between old and new. Of course, if it isn't popular, Disney could say "why pour more money into it?" I think with the amount of people that visit the resort, they have no option but to keep expanding. But how will the quality be?
