The audience that does love that kind of thing is who Disney wants to cater to with Carsland. BTW Constance, Cars is also my least favorite Pixar film. I couldn't get past the talking car thing. It just didn't work for me.

It will be popular - assuming it actually turns on in the morning. Test Track can't be shut off at night when the park does holiday hours because they're afraid it wont turn back on. They pay CM's to cycle the cars instead. (midnight close meaning 1am or so when it's really "shut down" and then 7am opening meaning test/startup beginning around 5am - ao it makes logistic sense, I suppose.)

If they've figure out how to get the vehicles to do a quick series of dips without slamming on the brakes - wonderful! Otherwise, those bunny hills are going to interesting..

And a whole land themed specifically on the movie cars seems like a bit much, but maybe the rides will be a lot of fun and I'll love it, we'll just have to see. I know my son will love it so it'll be great fun seeing him experience it.

Then one day he is forced to slow down. He learns about community and he falls in love. To me, that is a great story (it is a little like Doc Holiwood, which I love too). Add in all the cool cars and characters, a great soundtrack and the route 66 subtext and it is a great movie, one of my favs. But more to the point, I already really like Test Track, and I want to try Journey to the Centre of the Earth. So seeing this kind of tech with a deeper environment on a grand scale, I cannot wait. The Racers attraction is the only thing in the expansion that has me excited (though I would still prefer "real" cars rather than a toon tie in.

The cars accelerate their way in a circular path to the top of the volcano and get shot out the side, down a drop that's probably 40-50ft long. It does not start hitting the breaks (at least that you can feel at all) until well after the drop. I'm assuming that in the 9 years since JTTCOTE opened, they've worked out a few more bugs in the programming (it was pretty unreliable at first), so it should work a little better out here. Also, why do you think they're already putting up tracks in that portion of the ride while the rest of it hasn't even begun foundation work? They know that it will be an issue and want to get the earliest testing possible in to get it working perfectly by opening.

Does Journey have a different change in angle, possibly more gradual?
Originally Posted By FerretAfros I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be too surprised if they did round out the angle some on Journey. I think that's what the breaks on TT are designed to eliminate, as it causes the cars to pull upward on the track instead of push down with gravity, so it's the same problem, but somehow they managed to solve it. What's always bugged me a little about TT's design (and it looks to be similar with the bit of Racers track we see) is that the track is straight bits connected by little curved pieces, like a model train kit. This isn't a big deal for the turns, but when used for hills, it's very strange to change angle so suddenly, and then travel in a straight line along that angle. Unlike the sweeping curves of roller coasters, it's just a little jerky and feels very mechanical. I'm sure the forces are a lot easier to figure out this way, but it's just a really strange feeling that I don't think I've had on any other ride (including Journey, but I'm not positive about that).
