I think you have it all wrong. I really do.

I can't say for sure, but I can say that it is not because they want the 'first click'. With the 2fer ticket, there is only one park per day. If someone is using their DCA day, they will go to DCA first and DCA only that day. They may get there later, but it's still the only park they can get in.

Does anybody know if they are offering the 2fer as an upgrade of a 1 day parkhopper again this year? They did it last year, but I think it was part of the birthday promotion somehow, so I don't know if they are doing it again.

The 2fer, aka "Pay for Disneyland, and Get DCA for FREE!" ticket, one day at each park, on DIFFERENT days (you cannot combine them to make a 1 day ParkHopper) for the price of a single day/single park ticket ($72 for adults, $62 for kids 3 thru 9).

Or the 2 day ParkHopper for the price of one day. Price is $97/$87, or $25 more than the 2fer. And one big plus of the SoCal ParkHopper, you have a 30 day shelf life between the first and last day, unlike the normal 14 day time window.
