You got it. Those of us worried about putting pictures of Congressional districts in crosshairs, or comments about 2nd Amendment remedies, are just using this for our own political ends. The shamelessness of these people knows no bounds. I rarely use this word, because it typically has religious connotations, but people like Glenn Beck or Sarah Palin are evil. They represent the very worst of our country. Genuine evil.

But I guarantee you if you were to repeal the second amendment you will have them coming out of the wood work to join with the haters. Taking away the American right to keep and bare arms is NOT a solution. I am not advocating the right for everyone and anyone to purchase guns without so much as a back ground check.

He just, with tears staining his chubby face, his frame shaking with righteous indignation, went on and on and on and on and on about what a terrifying place the United States is to live in right now.

The mentally ill are often the most susceptible to violent rhetoric. But I did find it amusing that within an hour of the shooting, tea party groups across the country had checked their membership rolls and issued statements that Loughner was not a part of their group. Why would they be so paranoid about that, I wonder? But let's say, for the sake of argument, that Loughner had absolutely no contact with the rhetoric of right-wing extremists. Let's say it just came out of nowhere. Does that excuse Palin's use of crosshairs in her posters? Or Sharron Angle's talk of Second Amendment remedies? Or Glenn Beck's egging on about how our country is run by socialists out to get YOU! Nope, it sure doesn't. But guess what? Loughner did here this stuff. We'll probably never know the exact sources. But even paranoid and delusional people get their ideas from somewhere. Loughner's anti-governemnt views didn't come from nowhere.
