"I just got off the phone with Carlos the Idiotic Hotel Manager. Explained to him calmly but at length and in great detail just how badly he and his entire staff had screwed up and laundry listed the things that were wrong in his hotel.

He was absolutely deadpan the entire time. Apologized a few times but in the same dead, expressionless voice. Wanted authorization to charge my Visa for the full remainder (what is no longer on quincytoo's). I paused and then told him I was stunned that he was not offering to reduce the charge since we clearly didn't receive anything like that amount in product and service. He mumbled that yes, of course, he was going to offer a discount; he was just clearing up my credit card number and the full amount first. Ha.

End result? He generously offered to reduce our bill by 20%. . . of the one most expensive night. LOL! So he is taking a whopping $52.67 off the bill. Which he will evidently have to do *after* he charges my Visa for the full remainder. Because their computers won't allow a reduction in the original rate, blah, blah, blah.

Whatever. I'm done with Carlos and the Desert Inn. I listed every single thing that everyone in our group complained about. I told him his entire staff is incompetent and/or rude. I made a couple more attempts for a greater discount on the bill (and was stonewalled). I relayed the conversation I overheard in the lobby about the five phone calls already that day (before 2:30!) about charges made to wrong credit cards. He said several times that he's investigating it. All I have to say is that I will be watching my credit card activity very closely."

So it appears that it was more a case of incompetence than actual fraud. In a nutshell, quincytoo got charged for the entire bill but in two separate transactions, when I was supposed to get the second amount on my card. But, BUT the entire experience was so far below par that I would never stay there again. The combination of nasty, broken, or lacking amenities, the rudeness and hassle over parking passes, the ineptness of the front desk staff and the manager. . . avoid this place like the plague, people. Yes, it's close. Yes, it's often cheaper. But, in my opinion, SO not worth it.

When I lived in Alaska the rats were the size of cats but there were no trees on the island so they didn't live there. ;-)

I am still really grossed out by the details of this hotel. Blood on the pillows? Rotting hair? Good Lord.

Not here! I could lay on the bed and watch Litter or IceKnyght scrub their molars. Either front and center OR from the mirror.

OMG - the whole thing was quite hysterical. This was a SUITE mind you.

    Aye yi yi!

I know the difference I have tree living squirrels. My mom organized a huge campaign to remove them from our neighborhood because of the disease and rabies they carried. It was gross.
