A small step out of the many they have to take.

Have we really reached the point where we're grateful that Disney gives us recycled entertainment? Really? Is that all we can expect from the company that brought us Pirates, Mansion and EPCOT Center?

    How depressing is that...

I agree that it's a little bit of a step down, but several years ago, this wasn't even considered, unless it came with a ticketed event. Now, it's a welcome sign that they might be reevaluating on how they treats their parks and fans. Like I said.... One small step out of the many they have to take.

It's not fantastic, but its something good. Can't moan and groan and Doom and Gloom about that.

I disagree. And I do like the Nightatsic changes.

But giving Disney credit for stuff like this does absolutely nothing toward giving guests new cutting edge experiences ... and having Lilo and Stitch wishing your brat goodnight from the magical mirror at the Poly is NOT doing so either.

    You know I agree.

But it does hold some over and it does attract SOME guests. I know it's attracting me to MK, I had not planned returning to MK until I can get in on my my travel day for MVMCP and screw them out of a full day tic.

They tried that a few years ago - it was called Night Magic. Of course, there are some very quantifiable reasons why that parade failed. But there's no question that Disney spent a bucket of money on that parade, and failed to see a return on investment. It's no surprise that they're in no hurry to try again.

They spent a ton of money on JIYI 2.0, too, and that failed as well.

The thing is, they have to invest that much money, but they also have to actually put quality and "meaning" into a new attraction. Make sure it lives up to the attraction it replaced.

I'd spring for that...it's a classic. It'd be cool to see it on the big screen.

Night Magic wasn't even a parade - it was a show like the stupid Celebrate - A Street Party thing. When they actually attempted to follow-up the MSEP with an actual new parade - like Spectro, Fantilusion and Dreamlights, they had great success. So I don't think we can use Night Magic as an excuse.

Sorry, I know people love the MSEP - I do too, but the darn thing has been around since the 70s, and I really think it's time to let it go. They could at the very least replace the floats with something new - keep the music and theme, and add new floats.

Danny, Danny, Danny ... let's not make excuses for TDO's ramming old magic down our throats like Imagineers and fanb...nevermind.

Never saw Night Magic. It was a blink and you missed it deal.

But that was what? 13 years ago now?

    And at DL.

Since SpectroTragic debuted at MK, TDL has had TWO new hugely popular night parades. They'll likely have a third before WDW gets a new one (more likely a transplanted one as that's the model now).

There's no good excuse as to why WDW guests will be seeing a 1972 parade with new bulbs and one new float this summer.

There are plenty of bad ones and you just added another!

Well, yes it was. It was a moving group of floats that stopped and did a show in a couple of locations. But it was a parade as well as a show.

I make no excuses for anyone. I'm just saying that this is probably their mindset - "We went all out and gave this audience our best shot, and we got burned. So we'll just keep giving 'em what's worked in the past". It's kinda chicken, but that's the way it seems to be.
