A perfect example would be Alien Encounter (because I was around quite a bit the year it opened and the next year)... The first summer, the lines were CRAZY for that attraction, always stretching far around the building and looping around in the back...almost always 45-60 minute waits. After that, nothing. A walk-on almost always. Same thing with Honey I Shrunk the Audience at Epcot back around that same time. It was really, REALLY busy for a short time, then nothin. So yes, new attractions "good or bad" usually get a lot of hype and interest early on, but the real test is a year or two later when people have heard about it and/or already checked it out. As for the cars zipping around, I think it's fair to say that DOES have something to do with the long lines. It's just like how people head for the tallest coaster in any regular amusement park...what else in future world has something on the outside to really catch people's attention?

The attraction really isn't anything special, but it always has one of the longer lines in Fantasyland. It's the old principle of having a weenie to pull people into an area. Old trick, but if it works, why not use it?

The big next thing for DAK is the Rivers of Light parade (don't let the name fool you, this won't be on water) that Steve Davison is helming and should debut and be terrific (as all his projects tend to be) in the spring. But Joe Rohde ALWAYS has a couple of aces up his sleeve, so who knows? A lot of folks don't believe DAK will get another major addition soon with EE and Nemo recently added ... I wouldn't believe that I can say, Joe was never happy that his Discovery River Boats were trashed as Radio Disney for one forgettable summer and then disappeared.

And I never have seen a sizeable wait for Stitch's Great Belchoff yet. <<And for the cars bringing people in, they do the exact same thing at Alice in Wonderland in DL. I didn't mind it and I think I saw the positive part of it. The link with the rest of WDW. So even though I am not about to cry in my soup because it is coming down, I always thought it was a cute addition. What I hated, since day one, were the stars sitting on the top of SSE. In my opinion, you can put something along side SSE without taking from it's regal appearance but you cannot place a bunch of glittery stars on it and not cheapen the architecture. Small point, perhaps, but just the way I have felt since it first appeared. I also hated the little skinny numbers in the 2000 sign but felt that when the name Epcot replaced it, it was much better. I'll bet now that we will get a sign designed and produced by the youngsters in Kidscot. It will be a large piece of brown cardboard with crayon letters that say 3pcot (backwards E, in case you didn't get that) duct taped to the front of SSE like on a refrigerator door. This will be to show how kid friendly the park is. Maybe a couple little drawings of Nemo scattered about, as well!

The only thing I can speculate on is the massive amount of work taking place in, and around SSE. This leads me to believe LaL will be relocated, and the rear area will be redesigned. It just makes since, at least to me.

Only now it's not blocking the beautifully realized Hollywood 'Main' Street ending at the Graumans facade.

They added some interactive screens to entertain people waiting forever in the standby line. Well, they wouldn't have needed that if they would have built 3 theaters instead of 2. That and they would never need to shut down the ride for rehab since they could work on one theater at a time in the off season. It is obvious by the lines and how early fast pass sell out for this ride that they should have added a third theater when they built it.

I'm sure it would have required more space for additional theaters and based on the steady but not overwhelming ridership in California they had no reason to jump to the conclusion that this was going to be a blockbuster on the east coast. Maybe at some point they will do a rehab and add something, until then I guess we just have to put up with the lines.
