Last time I went on Soarin, I had a fastpass. The ride must have broken down recently because the fastpass line was the only one moving. The fastpass line started at the very beginning of the big hallway area, and we were on the ride in 25 minutes. It really surprises me how fast the ride eats people when the line is steady. But I guess that is beside the point.

I was unhappy about that too, if it's not a thrill ride it doesn't last.

Some would say that it's better than nothing, but the sub lagoon, even closed, was a really nice atmospheric area. And there was always the chance that they could have revived the subs as DL did. Well, they would have had to build new subs, as they let the old ones rot in the sun. Or maybe they could have come up with a totally new attraction that used the same lagoon. But now that it's all filled in none of that will ever happen, and that's a shame.

No lagoon, no new sub ride. This one was so obvious that it was crazy.

absolutely, and all the while done under the guise to begin with that 20K was going down for rehab/ refurb - which obviously was never true. We were fed a line of baloney -

and what goofy says sums up the timing issue in that DL got their sub ride back - improved and we got a playground one could purchase as Builder's Square.

if the playground was put into a resort it would be underthemed but at least be where it belongs ( short of someone's back yard) - but to put in into Fantasyland was an abyssmal decision.

    And there was much rejoicing.

And now attention turns to "The Hat" at Disney-MGM.

As hideous as "The Hat" is in it's current poorly conceived location, instead of destroying it outright, perhaps an expensive asset such as this would be better served by being moved to a more appropriate location?

i.e. - The walk to the Fantasmic! Theater is long and tedious. "The Hat" could serve as a "wienie" for guests approaching the Theater as they pass under it along their long trek to the Fantasmic! Theater. (Much like the smaller version of "The Hat" that currently lives at the border between the Disneyland Hotel & Downtown Disney in Anaheim.)

Failing that - moving it outside of Disney-MGM to the entry road on the South East or South West corner of Buena Vista Drive and Studio Drive as an iconthat screams: "TURN HERE . . . NOW!" - OR - in front of the Disney-MGM Main Gate between the parking lot and the turnstyles could serve as an icon for the park - and again - without destroying it outright.

The wand, on the other hand, should be smashed into little bits and then have the little bits smashed into even smaller bits.

    OR

Move the much-hated Wand to the All-Star Movie Resort and re-purposed there as the central part of the resort's entry sign along WITH the much loathed Hat - a far more fitting location, as over-sized and tacky is all the rage at the All Stars.

Simply destroying expensively designed and produced icons seems out of hand to my way of thinking, especially when said things that have (more than) out-lived their careless 'usefulness' in one location can be utilized to plus areas that could use a good sprucing up.
