I understand where it is coming from... just have a little problem with presenting suicide as a "way out". For me, it seems out of character with the rest of the show which is pretty non-threatening. It seems pretty "in-your face" where all other threats are pretty subtle.

The ghost attempting to get out of his coffin, the DoomBuggy being assaulted by the 13 clock (notice how you turn the second the claw flashes out at you.) and the missing yellow hand pushing one of the doors is also sinister. But the GH Hanging might be the most obvious of things in Act I.

RT I can respect your thoughts but I don't think that many people think of it the same way you do. That doesn't make it "a problem", just a situation that you have to come to terms with not everyone else and since you apparently have because you have been going to it for years, it must not be overly upsetting, I'm guessing.

That's the way LP is and why I love it! My post was in response to the many that claimed the HM was an absolute masterpiece that was perfect in every way and should never be tampered with. Perfection is in the eye of the beholder and I just pointed out that I didn't care for the suicide scene. There are other things I don't find "perfect" about HM... primarily that you can see the strings holding up the musical instruments in the séance area and that if you know where to look you can easily see how the ballroom effect is created. Do I let any of this spoil the attraction for me? No. Unlike some, I don't need Disney attractions to be "perfect" to enjoy them. Good thing, because I can't think of very many that are... Tower of Terror probably comes closest in my opinion.

The queue that winds it's way through 'neglected' landscaping and empty fountains. The wonderful lobby that looks like it was hastily abandoned with everything still in place. The show in the library that tells the back-story you will need to most enjoy the attraction. The queue through the boiler room with the eerie sounds and flickering light from the boilers. The freight elevators with creaking sounds and the gauge showing their ascent and rapid descent. The elevator door opening and showing the family disappearing at the end of the hotel hall. The elevator traveling horizontally though the 5th dimension room. Finally the light and 'whoosh' as you enter the drop shaft. Of course the random sequence drops are outstanding. Yes, Tower of Terror is just about perfect in every single way!

Then it is dark and the little spark of the elevator outline appears and those doors open and then...Surprise I actually think of my scary grade school in that basement. It was very similar and we had to walk thru that to get from one end of the building to the other. I grew up in St.Louis and those old homes had lots of scary creaky basements with huge old coal furnaces.

A big part of entertainment is about confronting things that are dark and scary. And the suicidal skeleton in the stretching room falls, screaming, when the lights go out. So he wasn't really dead. Only very nearly dead. ; )
