My assumption would be that it's entirely based on the way those kids dress.<<

Do Machine Head's fans dress significantly differently from 3 Inches of Blood's fans? Seems unlikely.

Anyway, if this is actually a "crackdown" on these acts, look for further cancellations and that'll tell the tale.

I hardly think Disney is paying attention to WHICH bands have the "worst" lyrics or whatever.

And my "glad I don't know you personally" was precisely what I apologized for. So yeah, I said something stupid, owned it, apologized for it.

We have our difference of opinion, he feels that his right of enjoyment should be absolute, and I feel that his enjoyment isn't in jeopardy.

No big deal, he's wrong in my book, but nothing I can say, or will say, would ever change his opinion. It's like speaking politics, religion, abortion, Islam. Opinions are strong and basically people just end up shouting over one another.

Which is absolutely what I don't want at LP.

No. I feel that things belong in their proper venue, and that I should not have to be assaulted by something in certain areas.

Your right to enjoy your entertainment does not override my right to be free from having to experience it.

Most of the discussion is about being subjected to these sorts of shows/music etc.. but again, you have to buy a ticket, and most Disney fans aren't going to the HoB anyway. It's not an attraction in the park that one could inadvertently walk into. Anyway I repeat myself I've made my points.

    I'll move on.

<<< I think some people find the look of the fans to be somewhat off-putting and therefore they feel threatened by them even though that feeling is not justified by their behavior. <<<

I find the dress and look thing to be most funny. If we all dressed up like it was the 1950's and 1960's where the ladies all wore sun dresses with shrugs, the men with shirts and ties (and HATS!) then I'd understand being offended by a metal kid wearing a black T-shirt, black pants, and possibly long hair.

I dress nicer than MOST of the Disney patrons. I still wear a button up shirt and tie during the day, and a suit at night. I do that as a personal choice. I don't expect others to follow my lead.

I'm no more offended by a metal kid in his Metallica shirt than a family in matching orange shirts, brown shorts, crocs, fanny packs, and landyards with $200+ of pins tacked to it who rudely exhibit a sense of constant entitlement.

At Disneyland especially, I look at behavior, and not attire. The Disney brand appeals to an amazing cross section of society. Whether one is mainstream or on the fringe is irrelevant.

Not if I'm walking through DTD and have to deal with people behaving badly.

And if you think you can turn this around on me, feel free to try. I don't go to places I don't feel are the sort of thing I would want to be at.

That means, I don't go to heavy metal concerts. And if I did go, I wouldn't be sitting in my seat loudly reading from the bible and telling people to repent their sins. If I did, I'd be thrown out of there, at the very least.

Wow...thanks a lot for THAT image! *shudder*

    That really IS offensive lol!

You should, they're a lot of fun.

I hear Van Halen is gearing up for a tour, you should start out with that show. :)

    I don't think they are.

If I wanted to see something like this, I could go to a senior citizen center and watch them dance to old frankie avalon music.

I don't want it to happen, period. I've been going to these parks for a while. I've seen lots of things, was there when a murder took place.

    So, it happens.

Tomorrow night, Bad Brains is (are?) playing. HoB's web site describes them as punk. Samples can be heard here: <a href="http://hob.com/tickets/eventdetail.asp?eventid=48214" target="_blank">http://hob.com/tickets/eventde

Punk is mostly just political, and can come in all forms that can be crazy wild and angry (The Locust), or pop music (Green Day).

Bad Brains used to be pretty insane live, but they did do a reggae infused album too, so maybe that's how they skated by the "ban".

We were at a show this past weekend at a church in the city and in another room there was a metal concert with the headliner group "Municpal Waste". (I just love these band names! lol) There were a lot of metal fans outside before and after the show we attended and they were all dressed in black like you would picture them to be, all the piercings, tattos and so forth. Everyone was very nice, quiet, just chillin'. I was wearing my bright turquoise Tinker Bell tee shirt and shiny gold flip flops and I heard one of them gasp at MY attire, I think!

Believe it or not, they probably wanted to know where to get the cool Tink shirt. :) On the other hand, they probably already know that you can get great Disney shirts at Hot Topic. :)

It's a funny thing about nice places. People tend to respect them. The more run down or seedy a place looks the more inclined people are to behave badly. It's one of the reasons DL maintenance standards have always (well almost always) have been so high.
