I guess there are a lot of tourists and young people in my area, but I see one at least once a week. My first ever sighting of one was during the Disneyland Half Marathon in 2011, and I actually thought it was pretty nifty at the time, considering how it was being used (runner documenting their race and getting photos with characters who would otherwise be too big to fit in a selfie). As they became more widespread and were used for increasingly mundane purposes, my opinion of them rapidly diminished
