Well, my husband got so sick on this one year, it was horrible. It literally did ruin his evening. So, needless to say, he passes on Mission: Space.<

yep, and that stupid Viking ship - and Octopus etc -- this gettin' old thing stinks :-(

Do you mean the flourescent lit cabin-car ferris wheel that spun you upside down at the top, that if you went on with a friend at a carnival you fought like the dickens to get the car to upside down at the bottom so you could hear all the change come out of your pocket - you mean that Skydiver?

    Can't say I recall it.

I've done M:S twice, and I'm 49. First time, empty stomach, bad move, a little dizzy, but my bad. Second time, a short while after breakfast with my son and my niece. She hated it, we loved it. We kept yelling at her to watch the monitor, grab the stick, push the buttons, and all she kept saying was "This is awful". But we call came off the ride feeling just fine.

But I'm all in favor of a milder version. This is Disney, after all, not Six Flags over Epcot.

Yup... you've been on that sucker once or twice... what I really loved is they gave you a wheel inside to control the thing, kind of like the teacups. If you were like me, you made sure you were upside down as much as possible!

    ;-)

LOL, vbdad ~ you got that right because nothing has EVER bothered my husband, EVER!

Talking about age, I'm 59. Now before you get this mental image of me, I'm not that bad :)
Anyway, MS has never bothered me. (Just PMS ~ haha) I talk to myself OUTLOUD the whole time, but I made it. The part that is the worst for me is when they close the door and you're really, really in a very small little space ~ "don't think about" I say to myself, "just look at the screen and breathe" If I stay focused on the screen, I'm ok.

I will say that in my experience, most of the people that MS affects adversely are male. It bothered my son. And as I've said, my husband, in his finally found wisdom in life, just says "no, I'll wait on you guys right here on this bench." My husband says that as he has waited on us, it is mostly men who seem to be affected. Has anyone else noticd this?

The rider count has been really low compared to their expectations, and supposedly HP has made it known that unless there is a significant improvement in ridership, they will not renew their sponsorship when it expires later this year. If the sponsorship goes, the CMs were told that the ride would enter an "extended refurbishment" (ala Body Wars) from which it may not return.

Currently, Imagineering is working to convert two of the centrifuges to static mode (although only one will operate that way initially). There is a lot more work involved than just changing a few lines of code -- they are going to have to reprogram the entire motion sequence. For example, the will make it simulate acceleration using the old Star Tours trick of tilting the car back so you are pressed into your seat. There are also mechanical modifications and, perhaps most importantly, the complete redo of the queue to add a fourth, fifth, and sixth line (no spin standby, no spin fastpass, no spin single rider). This work is going to be done during park hours without closing the ride, so they will be running on only three centrifuges at a time for large portions of the summer.

Let me ask you this, why do you think they put up the sponsorship money to begin with ? To attract consumers, not because they had nowhere else to put the cash..

So they should also expect that pulling of said advertising will result in less sales, I am just trying to make sure that those rocket scientist advertising guru's model works correctly.

What ride are you talking about, Jim? I'm talking Mission:Space - and, yes, really.
