    I think they were actually driving the floats to the park when they were coming out of retirement. I don't remember how long ago that was, but I think that is what was going on.

    That would explain the police-escorted convoy of floats, but with all the lights on? Those batteries aren't exactly intended for long distance runs to begin with.
