That's very interesting, I never really thought about how "different" the two styles would be. On the other hand though, it might seem "cool" to many Americans if the magazine "sounded" British. I ALWAYS pay extra money for the Brit version of the Harry Potter books. I dunno why, exactly, except that I feel like I want to read the "real" version just as Rowling wanted it to be heard. Most folks I've talked to say it's very cool. I'll have to pick up an issue someday.

It wasn't so much that there were obviously American choices of words, but more so that I didn't see very many obviously Commonwealth ways of saying things. You let a couple sneak by but it did seem that someone would have to make a deliberate attempt to avoid things of this nature. For example, just reading the online versions of the Guardian or the SCMP, I constantly run into phrases that although I understand them, stand out as being foreign. So the question is, how do you know what all of those are? I would guess that you have Doobie or some other American proofread it.

We do have a proofreading service in the US that helps out too. However all you really need to do is re-jig Word's spell and grammar checker to US English and that does most of the work! On a serious note though if you read some of the things that people say about LP, Tales and our team on other boards it might just turn your stomach.
