My guess is that you're the author of the articles that are not specifically attributed to someone else, which means you write most of the content. Is that right? Many of the articles refer to the author in the first person, so I assume this is you.

Also, I notice that although it's produced in the UK by Brits (mostly), you use the American English spellings for words, even though every other English-speaking country (UK, Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, etc.) uses the British spellings. This had to have been a deliberate choice, so I assume that the US is the primary target market.

The magazine is entirely conceived and written by us but the majority of our subscriber base is US-based so we opted for US spelling thoughout and even changed a lot of the wording to reflect that.

    Sellout! :p

That's very interesting, I never really thought about how "different" the two styles would be. On the other hand though, it might seem "cool" to many Americans if the magazine "sounded" British.

I ALWAYS pay extra money for the Brit version of the Harry Potter books. I dunno why, exactly, except that I feel like I want to read the "real" version just as Rowling wanted it to be heard. Just my little hype I guess.

    >>>The problem was that a lot of it was being used by people on other message boards as ammunition against LP and Tales so it is best for my team if I stick to factual posts only now.<<<

LOL. That's so typical of the net geek wars! How sad that you feel you have to hold back because others might use it as fodder for slamming your work (and, from what I've heard, the magazine is very well done so why should people want to disparage it just because one of the contributors is a Tokyo Disney slamming basher ;p). j/k

Well, no I'm not joking about the magazine. Most folks I've talked to say it's very cool. I'll have to pick up an issue someday.

Not just the spelling, but the other occurred to me as well a couple of times. It wasn't so much that there were obviously American choices of words, but more so that I didn't see very many obviously Commonwealth ways of saying things. You let a couple sneak by :) but it did seem that someone would have to make a deliberate attempt to avoid things of this nature. For example, just reading the online versions of the Guardian or the SCMP, I constantly run into phrases that although I understand them, stand out as being foreign. So the question is, how do you know what all of those are? I would guess that you have Doobie or some other American proofread it.

X, thanks for the kind comments! Don't forget we offer foreign subscriptions!

On a serious note though if you read some of the things that people say about LP, Tales and our team on other boards it might just turn your stomach. They are downright rude and personal attacks that we would never tolerate on LP. The sad thing is that many LP-ers participate too.

Gee, makes you wonder why they left, and why folks like me didn't post for a long time.
