Would be a pretty interesting series, especially if they base it off of the Ultimate line of comics.

If Marvel executives are as cleaver as Jobs was with the Pixar deal, they may be able to retain their autonomy. If they aren’t, Marvel is doomed to become Disney fodder.

Sounds like a Disney attraction: "Disney wants to buy Marvel, but then something goes terribly wrong!"

The petting zoo, geyser mountain, BBQ are could be a new "Heroland" for Marvel's Stuff also. I like the old stuff but things changes.

What happens when the current 'superhero' trend dies?

I was in high school when 'Superman: The Movie' was released -- 'You will believe a man can fly' and all that stuff with Christopher Reeve.

That was 1978. And while the original was met with success at the box office, the sequels were pretty terrible.

Tim Burton's 'Batman' -- 1989 did well, but the series that followed was certainly hit and miss.

But 'Superhero' as a genre is already peaking -- starting up again with the success of 'Spider-man' -- suddenly all the studios think they can do it.

But it's a very hit and miss genre, with a limited audience.

It reminds me of Disney and their animated movies in the 90s-- 'Little Mermaid' did well, 'Aladdin' did a little better and then when 'The Lion King' did huge numbers in 1994, they kept trying to strike lightning again with another 'Broadway style musical' animated feature.

And how many 'superhero' movies do we really want to see?

Nicholas Cage as the 'Ghost Rider' -- Jennifer Garner as 'Elektra' -- 'The Punisher' 'Daredevil' 'Fantastic Four' 'The Incredible Hulk' -- all were just moderately successful.

This particular deal might look good on the surface -- but it's very 'trendy' to me. I'd be surprised is Disney still owns Marvel in 10 years.

Man, I hope you're joking. I can't think of anything in this world (at least that I can bring up outside WE) that is more of an opposite of the term "good thing."

LOL, I think it would fit, as like a hidden Mickey kind of thing.

Something tells me Pixar is probably going to throw a Marvel character into Toy Story 3, as kind of a hidden thing, maybe a Captain America action figure or something along that line. Not saying a cameo appearance, but maybe like a quick 1 second appearance like they have done with other references throughout Pixar films...

Yes, call it 'Marvel Superhero Island' --

Oh wait -- that's already at Universal's Islands of Adventure.

You won't see any rides with Marvel characters for at least a decade.... Just like with Pixar, Disney will let the relationship mature, and then flood the parks with rides....

In a decade, the relationship will have been dissolved.

After that, they'll see how profitable the movies are for them. That's a big question; some such movies are blockbusters, others flop. But if a sufficient number are profitable, and the merch sells well, Disney hangs on to Marvel.

At THAT point, you might see them as attractions in the parks - I just hope they keep them relegated to the studio parks.
