This is why I am very apprehensive, curious, and interested in what Staggs has to do with this.

You think it has to do with age?

Pretty well established? I can only imagine you hope that by repeating it over and over it'll eventually come true.

Do we fans really have such short memories that we're pining for the days of Eisner? Yikes. The last ten years of Eisner's reign were disastrous and, I'd argue, more damaging to TWDC than anything Iger's done.

And there are tons of other people saying it. Not saying that makes it true, but it seems to be a consensus. Show me where it says that he's staying for longer, if anything.

And of course Eisner was failing as he left, but this...? What we have now? It feels like NOTHING is going on, save for more of the same. Iger hasn't really shown us anything new.

I agree Archimedes, from 1998 on it was a certifiable disaster. I do not pine for Eisner. He was at the right spot, at the right time, with the right opportunities, and the right people around him.

He gets credit for executing and initially finding the right people, but that's about it.

    Seriously guys? No one?

I guess there is not a big cross-section of Disney/Seinfeld fans. And yes that Lloyd Braun was based on the Disney War Lloyd Braun.

I love Seinfeld, and knew the name was from there, but didn't realize it was so connected! That's interesting.

Loved Seinfeld when it was on NBC.

To keep this on topic, maybe the fifth gate that rumor has it will be built in 2013 and then sold off to Time/Warner in 2015 could be based on old television shows that are in syndication on TBS?

To your first question. No. Believe it or not..... The character was named Llyod Braun. Pretty funny for those that got it, considering the real Llyod Braun was pretty well known. I was referencing one of the episodes he appears in where he is competing against George

    Try Sept 2015.

Iger took over daily operations from ME around March 2005, then was crowned Chief Cheese at the beginning of FY2006. This is why the Pixar deal was announced in Jan 2006. Iger and his legal team had been working with the Pixar principles in the latter part of 2005 to get the deal done.

If Iger's stepping down at the end of his current contract, it will happen in a little over four years. And I won't be surprised if he does step down, for it seemed as though his main goal was to grab as much compensation as possible by pushing profits through the pseudo-growth illusion of cost cutting and IP acquisition. I never got a strong sense that Iger was interested in the gig for the long haul, as ME clearly was.

It also wouldn't surprise me to see P&R sold off before Iger bails for Retirement Land. As others have pointed out in this thread, the Rotunda Bldg simply doesn't have any genuine interest in the parks. Say what you want about ME, but he did care, on a personal level. He simply didn't want to invest the capital as a businessman.

Yup. That's why I'd still love to have Eisner over Iger.

Iger cares NOTHING about the legacy of the company at all.

The MK at WDW has been maxed out for years. The new expansion will give them a slight bump and help the park along.
Other parks, however, could use some capital investment. EPCOT Center could get a huge attendance bump and return some significant change if Disney would put a team together to focus on it.
