I certainly don't pack my bedclothes or picnic gear when I go anywhere like that for an extended stay.

Not only can you read anecdotal evidence here of AP's who talk about getting their spot for the show and waiting (and/or see the AP's around their necks), but it just makes sense to me. Non-locals like me have a very finite amount of hours in the parks. I'm only there every 2-3 YEARS, and so I'm not going to devote 3 hours to ANY one thing, no matter how good the show. Local AP's, on the other hand, know that if it takes 3 hours to get a good spot and see the show, no big deal... they can come back and ride Space and Splash any time they want. I can't. They can come after work, hang out and get a snack, then stake out their place, watch the show, maybe do one ride on the way out... and that's enough for them on that one night; that's all they expected to do and that's what they did. They've got plenty of other nights and days. I don't, so I'm not camping out for hours.

Just someone's "intuition" (who knew that "intuition" means "wild guess"?). Shoot, that's not even reaching the very low bar of anecdotal evidence. My intuition says that it's a very tiny minority of APs and a tiny minority of a day's crowd at the parks that visit this way.

My DW wears it also because sometimes she doesn't bring her purse. We don't do it because we want to show it off. We aren't rich. Yes, before we started pin trading, I used to keep it in my wallet. But the lanyard is so much easier.

I don't wear a lanyard, but I do take my pass out of my wallet and keep it in my front pocket for these reasons. If I was a pin trader and wore a lanyard, I'd probably keep it there. "I don't go ANYWHERE without my American Express Gold Card displayed around my neck!! Just Kidding... LOL" Gold? I'd be ashamed to wear that around my neck. My Amex black card on the other hand...

I don't go very often, and I'm not going to sit there and wait for even one hour to get a good seat. I'll either someday shell out the bucks to get reserved seating or happen upon a good spot. But I don't fault the APers for doing it. Hell, I'd probably do it if I lived close enough to do so. But I think it's ridiculous that Disney allows you to put blankets on the ground. Standing there is one thing, but blankets on the ground hours before hand? Are they nuts? Which is I think the exact point you're trying to make, Hans.
