Getting people's names at the beginning of the attraction was very clunky and time-consuming. The pay off at the end to have 'E.T.' say your name -- not so much.

It used to take forever to load, and during the first few months of operation, people waited a long time. I went through the cycle several times with the old 'E.T' character sending for 'E.T' and telling him 'our planet is dying'

The suspended vehicles was a cool idea -- riding on a bicycle -- also cool. It's almost as if the ride was beyond what could be accomplished at the time.

The animatronic humans were terrible, and yes, the visit to E.T.s planet was like a cast-off of a Sid and Marty Kroft TV Show.

The whole thing was just sort of -- eh, a bit cringe inducing.

    Sorry those who loved it.

Exactly. Disney should be dynamic and different.

Remember the gang of singing baby ETs at the end? *snicker*

I think the ET Adventure, at least the version that was out here in California, is a good lesson in why sometimes just having 3-dimensional sets and AAs isnt't always the best way to tell a story in a theme park attraction.

Easy to say, but not easy to accomplish in today's business environment.

I'm not surprised. Maybe they can retheme one of DCA's spinners and send it out to Florida.

    *double snicker*
When I watched Lion King this weekend, I was reminded how much I hate singing kids. That song "I just can't wait to be king" is horrifically, terribly, awful. The music from that film ruins the film for me. And is it any better when Simba sings after he's grown up?

    Nope.

There are a scenes that translate well (Madame Leota and the Graveyard), but most of it is just a cluttered mess. Plus, it makes the regular attraction out of commission for more than 1/3 of the year. That's a long time for a significant downgrade during that time.

As for Simba, Matthew Broderick singing is much better than the JTT-sound-alike, but neither of those songs are my favorites. Then again, I'm a Negative Nancy, so what do I know?

Ok, so we now know he has poor taste in theme park attractions.

    Not a good sign.

    Alarmists, hit the alarms.

    I'm sorta kidding.

Me, too. If we get "Soarin' over Pandora," I'll laugh myself silly.

I foresee riding one of those dragon/pterdodactyl like creatures......but who knows? It will be 3-d based too----just a hunch.

Any other working theories out there????

That make me chuckle - E.T. Adventure was/is horrific - a perfect example of an attraction that cost a fortune but failed creatively.

Actually, it did something rather big for you - HP helped spur the WDC into announcing their plans for Avatardland!

If you do eventually enjoy that, you can thank JK Rowling.

Oh and I am the first person to come up with the term Avatardland.

    I own it.
