Yeah, probably scanning Monster.com too. Gap sales just fell another 11% for the post-Christmas winter period, and analysts are surprised it was that bad after a particularly disastrous 18 months. The buzzards are circling Mr. Pressler, and Cynthia and Byron Pollitt are nervous.

They do run disneycareers.com too so you never know! :p

To be fair the outlets are doing well for the parent company and that is still her domain.

It cracks me up how the locals complain about DCA’s theme being inappropriate for DLR’s location, since they argue that the vast majority of DLR visitors are locals. Yet, without exception, they are usually the first to empathize with John Doe tourist the minute management announces a ride closure or change in normal operating schedule.

And I saw all the management out there roaming the Parks with their binders full of comp ticket, meal vouchers and Re-Ads ready to pass out when cranky, furious tourists finally hit the breaking point after a few hours of trying to navigate a closed down Disneyland.

Disneyland has more local visitors than WDW. But on a busy summer weekend when there are 50,000 people in the Park, a big chunk of those visitors are tourists. Even if we get extremely conservative and say only 25% of summer visitors to Disneyland are tourists, that's still 12,500 people who would be upset that Disneyland just shut down on them in the middle of the vacation they planned 9 months ago.

Yeah, a smaller percentage of Disneyland's attendance comes from tourists compared to WDW. But I had a hard time dealing with 8 people all yelling at me at once when we closed Splash Mountain at 4:00pm. Try managing that scenario when there are 12,500 upset tourists in the park, all yelling at CM's at various stores, restaurants and rides that are all closing in the late afternoon of a busy summer Saturday.

    It wasn't pretty.

We had our trip already planned and when we went online to get the park hours and schedule the day before we left we discovered the POTC premiere was that weekend. We got the pins they gave out at the main gate the day of the premiere and yes the park was a zoo.

The day before we say them finishing up the setup of the bleachers and screen around Tom Sawyer Island but as other have said they were already finished at this point so they must have been installed two or three days prior to the actual premiere.

I am a big fan of POTC and so I was in heaven that weekend. The morning of the premiere the park did open really early (7a or before) and since we were staying at the GC I was up and in the park first thing while the rest of my party slept in. They had already roped off Main Street and were starting to lay the red carpet that early. I don’t know what time they will start to setup this year but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the same time. The west side of the park was open but some walkways around the island were shut. For example you couldn’t walk from Fronterland to New Orleans Square because that walkway was roped off. I also recall they the day before the premiere they turned all the walkways in that area of the park into one-way streets to help control traffic (like they do for Fantasmic just more of it) and most cast members were very strict about people stopping to look at the premiere area thus holding up traffic.

All in all I am glad we were there and we all had fun. It is fun to be at the park during a special event even if you are an AP holder and go countless times a year. Yes the crowds are worse on these types of days and I wouldn’t do all the special event days but to do some of them is fun. We were at the park on opening day of DCA as well and it was another one of those trips you will always remember.

I good tip if you do go on a special event day – stay at the GC hotel. It is so close and makes the madness inside the park more bearable knowing your hotel room is just five minutes away.
