One for friends, one for family) for them. They're uber excited to have a pool party, too, plus, the day we would go (October 8, 9, 10) my sister's going to be in town. So the price hike makes it easy for me to miss it, because I can't justify paying that anyway.

BTW, we STILL have candy from last year. It's going in the trash when we get home. I passed some of it out, but since we live in such a small town, we didn't get many T-o-Ters. So we ate all the good stuff and are left with the crappy candy.

Nothing like ruining a day or a party when you're smack up against people constantly and you can't even take a step without thinking about how to do it without knocking into someone.

We are going to Mickeys Halloween Party. We canceled an entire vacation to DLR in August so October, here we come :) Plus we are Halloween nuts!!!

Is it fair to have the Halloween fireworks only on the nights of the parties after having them every night last year? Hmmmm, fair? I vote no as I'd LOVE to see them every night too. But I'm still going. I'm still hoping that there will be some sort of Halloween fireworks every night with maybe special ones during the parties. I guess I have to check the calendar to see if they are having any fireworks that week.

This year with the Halloween event moved to DLR and the huge response to the fireworks last year they decided to make it an exclusive for the event. I do think crowd control has to be a part of it. Traffic around the park was crazy last year IMHO. But I still think it's priced a bit too high.

Paying for something that was "free" last year is never a popular idea. Now, if they do this with the Christmas show, look out. I'll start a letter-writing campaign. ;)

I'm curious about the capped attendance numbers for the party. Does anyone know what they are for this year or remember what they were for DCA? I'd imagine that the number is much higher for DL. I know some nights in prior years have been sold out.

So just because you can't see 1 fireworks show your never going back to DL and going to punish your grandchild? I'm sorry but you sound just like an AP'er that thinks they are entitled to every thing. I wish I lived close enough to DL that I could go every day or every weekend. So what if you can't see 1 crummy fireworks show, at least you can go to DL when ever you want.

And for every one else thats been whining about this, you can still stand at the gates and watch them.

talk about taking some thing for granted

I don't know if that is the correct term I should use but a fee will hopefully keep crowd behavior less intense for the guests and the castmembers working those nights.
I have watched many years of castmembers trying to "ask" guests without the wristbands to exit the MK. It is not pleasant to casually observe so I can not even imagine working that position!
Besides standing in the free section between DCA and DL to view fireworks...are there other recommendations. I know it could be watched from the PPHotel when they pipe in the music. Does anybody else want to volunteer free viewings?

This is from the parks blog. Scroll down and look at the video for the Halloween fireworks show. Looks so awesome and looks like it would be well worth the extra money.

I wasn't at DL last fall during the Halloweentime festivities, but I do know how crazy crowded it gets on Main Street during any pyro show in that park since Steve Davison created Believe ... and that was back in what ... 1999 or 2000? So, please put away any ideas this is being done to make a safer or more pleasant viewing atmosphere.

It isn't. It's all about the bottom line. And Disney is going to make a bleep-load of money on this event.

As to the comment about kicking folks out at MK ... that's another example of Disney's abject greed. At one time, when they were having a hard-ticket party that night, they did a hard-close at 6 p.m. ... park was cleared completely and then starting at 7 or 7:30, they let in ticket-holders.

But this required a whole lot of labor (and that costs) and it also made for far less last minute impulse buys ... often after kids (and adults) have had meltdowns with their families over being 'left out of the fun' (I have witnessed this numerous times) ... and there was a time when the PA at MK was never used ... then only in dire emergencies ... now, they have regular announcements on park nights imploring guests to purchase tix for the evening's party. Very tacky all around.

And then they started letting party ticket holders enter three hours early (in costume), which again drives home the SELL, SELL, SELL 'tude.

    ~Not very magical!~

I've seen all of those shows several times, but none of them compare to the crowds I saw all last fall for the Halloween fireworks. Not even Remember on July 17, 2005. The one time I was actually able to snag a spot (after several times that it was just too busy to try, or the park's front gates were closed due to crowds), our group of 5 ended up sharing a spot that would typically be considered for 2 people, tops. Granted, I haven't been in DL on New Year's Eve, but the crowds I saw for that show last year surpassed any level of crowd I've ever seen at DL. And it did it on a weekly basis.

I'm not denying that there is a very heavy money factor here, but I feel like it came as part of a solution to another problem.
