Disneyland Hand Stamp smell...

    We asked the CM why the change and we were told it was because some guests complained the old smell was too strong. Keep in mind that this is an informal answer from a CM. That doesn't mean it is the real reason for the change.

    Annual passholders don't have to get handstamps because the passports are linked to the computer system. It says when it's blacked out, and when it's expired, and when it's valid. Also, it's automatically a hopper.

    Plus, the pictures pop up on the screen. I don't know if that does it for the new passes with no pictures, but since it's printed with the name, checking ID is easy.

    With the new AP's that don't have pictures on them, you will have a picture taken of you that will pop up on the entry gates when your AP is scanned. The cash registers in the shops and restaurants don't have this capability (maybe later) so they'll ask you for an ID for a name match.

    Of course APers don't need hand stamps, but why would you want to miss out on that, especially if getting one and trying to guess what character was stamped on your hand was one of your childhood memories of DL?

    One of my adult memories is the smell of the hand staps from a couple of years ago. I liked it, but you could read the hand stamp without needing a black light.

    Plus we get them just in case the park gets super filled. You never know, and you don't want to risk not being let back in.

    I don't think it was the old smell that was too strong....they had that smell since I was a kid! It was probably the "new" old smell, that lemony-pee smell!!
