I find that of the three DLR hotels we get the best and friendliest service at PPH. I guess that would go along with your thoughts of the value resorts at WDW.

    Okey Dokey then!!

Besides... given the problems hotels have today with bedbugs, it is possible that a pest control firm had been brought in recently as a preventative measure, and and this woman was just particularly sensitive to the smell. In that instance Disney would be getting blasted for doing the right thing!

I think that is why they wanted me to stay in the room and wait for housekeeping 40 minutes. Did they want to determine the source or the blame?
I think it is interesting within 2 weeks I had problems that were upsetting to me on 2 different vacation stays at Paradise Pier and the Disneyland Hotel. I am not a local. They desire a resort guest that visits from the Midwest, etc. That is why they have built a Resort and not a theme park for afternoon visitors.
I would not give them 4 or 5 star treatment in a guest survey...

I think I also mentioned this in my trip report titled "Would this make you mad?" concerning Carsland Opening and Paradise Pier.

I also am a veteran Disney guest. I can ignore the intense crowds and the irritations and still have a lot of fun. And Carsland is a lot of fun and i think the crowds and people are part of the show.
For the opening day waiting in line the family in front and behind me "adopted" me because I was all by myself and we all hung out together and got FP's for the entire group while others rushed to stand in the line. I enjoyed listening to their tales of the crazy 24 hour leap year party which gave us all tremendous respect for the way the cast members handled the crowd that morn for the open!
I really need to write a separate fun trip report.

It seems crazy that it took so many staff before finding one with the right key to re-enter your room. On the other hand, be glad they didn't just let you go about your business promising to check the room and deliver your coats to you.

The last time I stayed at the DLH my wife forget a very expensive bathrobe hanging on the back of the bathroom door. We called as soon as we got to our hotel in Vegas and asked if housekeeping had turned anything in. There is NO WAY the bathrobe would not have been seen by whoever cleaned the room after we left. They said no, nothing had been turned in. The housekeeper now apparently has a very nice bathrobe. Be happy the same didn't happen to your coats.

We never received any type of apology for the incident from anyone.

The last time I visited DL we stayed at the PPH. I agree that the service there was better across the board than it has been at the DLH during prior stays. Maybe because the PPH realizes they are the least popular on-property hotel and tries harder to make guests happy.

But I always carry clorox wipes when I go to hotels and wipe down things like the remote, faucets, lightswitches, etc. And hotel room carpet; don't even get me started! Not much we can do about that, but I wouldn't let my kids play on the floor.

Call to manager who arrived with housekeeping...and all linens....on both beds were changed......disgusting.....there is no way that someone who made that room up would not have seen that.

As an adult, whenever she goes to a hotel she immediately spills a drink on the bedding so they have to replace it with all fresh bedding.

    Camping anyone!!??

This was before I arrive at the hotel.

I was most impress when I arrive to my room I had a large Mickey Mouse stuff animal and flowers, an ink pen and case and a WDW notebook with leather covering.

I was staying at POP. So yes I would expect a little comment. Hey they spoiled me. lol

Maybe just maybe they looked me up and see how many times I come there ? are maybe I just called at the right time.

    I was over impressed.

    I thought your comment

<<This was different from a room not being ready or wanting to switch rooms because of noisy neighbors>>

was in reference to my story about being given a room at Wilderness Lodge that had not been cleaned after the prior guests checked out(obviously the room was "not ready" for the next guests...us). In my opinion being given a room that had not been cleaned was at least as big an error on the part of Disney as being given a room that smelled as if someone had previously smoked in it.

If that was not a reference to my experience sorry for misunderstanding.

Im sorry for your experience MMC! I had better customer service at a Motel 6 sadly. A few times we had noisy neighbours and we were given a free room and another time a voucer for a free room for any other Motel 6 location. One time at a cheaper pricelined hotel my husband left his expensive electric shaver in the room and the hotel sent it back to us in Canada paying for the shipping and everything. I would be really mad paying $250 a night for a room and getting pretty crappy service.
