Now... something new with dazzling "21st Century" technology would be cool - And it looks like we are getting that in the way of "Radiator Springs Racers". Anything "really wicked" though .. is going to require a huge footprint in order to fit. If it's something on an actual track speeding up to 40+MPH .. it's going to take up a heck of a lot of space! We would probably have to loose 2 or 3 attractions to fit one "wicked, scary" thrill ride. And I don't want to see that happen. I've already seen a reduction in the number of rides in Disneyland since the 90s. If anything .. they need to maintain or 'up' the number of attractions. And another thing to say about "wicked thrills": Look at the deaths with Disney's ultimate thrill of them all: Mission:Space The more wicked it gets .. the more susceptible it will be to "accidents" - to put it lightly. I think Disney learned a valuable lesson with Mission:Space - Before they decide to plan out one more 'wicked thrill' for any Disney theme park. Another failed attempt at "wicked thrills" was Rocket Rods. From opening in May 1998 to it's official closure in September 2000 .. with all it's down times .. it last a total of 18 months, really. My gut feeling .. if it lasted longer .. Disney Legal would have had at least a few 'incidents' (from minor to moderate). But I think the final word on thrills is there's just no more room for one. Unless imagineering has something up their sleeve for the Festival of Fools arena .. or the site of Innoventions. My feeling is .... the future of any new "wicked thrills" for the DLR will be in the way of DCA. At the moment Screamin' does a fantastic job of filling in for that "thrill" fix. Along with the future Radiator Springs Racers. So, I would look south of DL across the esplanade for the future of "Disney Thrill fixes". And perhaps way down the future in the way of that talked-about Third Gate. I feel it's important Disney brand their parks to be different from one another. So .. while Disneyland can continue to be branded the same way it's been for 5 decades "Walt's family park" .. while the newer kid on the block (DCA) can go for those wilder attractions (that actually won't physically fit in Disneyland, anyway!) Finally .. I'd like to say .... As far as Disneyland is concerned: I feel there are ways to "thrill" the senses .. without the actual ride going 99 miles per hour. Star Tours, Submarine Voyage, Indiana Jones .. for a tiny sample.

It's boring. Which brings me to my second point: Tower of Terror last a whopping 2 minutes and 10 seconds. That's one of the shortest large scale attractions on record. Basically .. one stinking minute of show scenes .. the other minute .. the parade of "bunny hop" drops and lifts up the shaft. I'll never forget my feeling getting off the ride. Something like an old Peggy Lee song: Is that all there is? The faster an attraction is .. the shorter it is. The slower the attraction .. the longer it is. Disneyland has built it's incredible reputation based on attractions where we are immersed in totally different worlds LONG ENOUGH to make that invaluable impression on our minds, our emotions, our senses! ToT for me .. is THE BIGGEST waste of time. Nothing should be anything less than 3 minutes. I think Matterhorn is just under 3 minutes. It's borderline "too short". So .. a good "barometer" to live by when designing Disney attractions: If it's less than 3-4 minutes - DON'T BOTHER! The best Disney experiences are those that leave us lingering in those imaginative worlds .. l.o.n.g. e.n.o.u.g.h.

And it occupies enough space to host a major attraction, whether it be of the tasha-knock-your-socks-off-wicked or davewasbaloo-totally-immersive-family-friendly-no-cartoon variety.

I liked screaming but i was missing all the affects that spacemountain or the other coasters have to off. They need the effects plus to blow our socks off.
