But DisneyWorld is the best themed resort on the planet (overall...Magic Kingdom doesn't hold a candle to Disneyland).

You just can't compare anything to WDW, it's practically a city. Granted, bigger is not necessarily better, but in terms of offerings you just can't find this stuff anywhere else (all in one place, I mean).

You've got golf, fishing, boating, camping, vast open spaces, hundreds of shops, hundreds of restaurants, dozens of hotels, FOUR theme parks which can be explored for a whole week or more without seeing everything, RACE CAR driving (for pete's sake!), more shows, more parades, more nighttime events, an ISLAND of nightclubs, water parks, campfire singalongs, and a luau.

    And that's just the beginning.

p.s. don't listen to TDLFAN, he is jaded...and if I were Tall Disney Guy I'd be a little nervous right now :p

While I am not going to claim these as accurate numbers (some may count things differently, like stage shows, the railroad, and the Main Street Vehicles), I would say that they are fairly close. It really does say something when DL's 2 parks have more (or since these aren't very accurate, about the same number of) attractions as WDW's 4 parks really says a lot to me. While it does take a longer time to explore all of the parks at WDW, it seems that there is a lot of emptiness in the parks, especially compared to how they packed the attractions in at DL.

If you look at Epcot and Animal Kingdom though, even though they seem "light" on attractions there's really more to it than it would seem.

At Epcot, all the future world attractions (few though they are) are really big and time consuming compared to "riding dumbo". Used to be even moreso, but they've unfortunately dumbed it down. But anyway you can spend a LOT more time in future world than, say, paradise pier. And the world showcase is extremely light on attractions, but you can still easily spend half a day there taking it all in.

Animal Kingdom, too, would seem to be "light" but if you enjoy the park for what it is, a ZOO (not natazu), and spend a lot of time animal watching, you can really spend a LOT of time there enjoying the place without even experiencing all there is to offer.

So if you want to get technical about it, WDW has 200% more parks than Disneyland. You're right size doesn't always matter; however, do you get to enjoy that suspenseful 5 minute long bus ride to MGM Studios from your hotel to ride Tower of Terror or Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Disneyland? I think not! I hope I proved my point. I'm DEFINATELY not saying Disneyland is a bad park. I'm just saying WDW beats Disneyland on a 5:1 ratio.

If you have not been anywhere else..then YES, that would apply.

    >> I know that you have to drive to get everywhere and stuff like that, but get real, is it not worth it?<<

Oh yes, It's worth visiting alright, but for the quality you get there when compared to the other 4 Disney resorts on Earth, quantify does not justify a certain lack of quality found at WDW, and.. while the place is worth visiting, it certainly is overpriced for the quality (and quantity) you get *within* the 4 major theme parks.

    >>Everyone's saying WDW has 4 parks. WRONG! It has 6. Why would you not count the water parks?<<

I personally do not count the waterparks because I think I visit them on average once every 8 yrs. As a local, they do not interest me because I can find water adventures anywhere in this state, whereas the 4 main theme parks are unique experiences to WDW (well, 3 unique experiences because the MK does not deserve to be concidered unique, if you know what I mean..) WDW's water parks are fun but with Sea World's Discovery Bay and Aquatica coming soon, plus many other water parks in Central Florida, that experience is not unique to WDW. Get my point of view?

    >>How many water parks does Disneyland have again? Oh yea, zero. So if you want to get technical about it, WDW has 200% more parks than Disneyland.<<

Again (roll eyes...) NO ONE is disputing the facts and yours are correct. We are talking about this other fact: there is room for improvement at WDW, first and foremost at the MK, and 2ndly, in it's transport division. There is no water park at DLR but I sure would choose to spend my day at DL over the MK any day, month or year, because DL offers more quality and attractions over the ones offered at the MK, AT A CHEAPER price.

    >>You're right size doesn't always matter; however, do you get to enjoy that suspenseful 5 minute long bus ride to MGM Studios from your hotel to ride Tower of Terror or Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Disneyland? I think not! <<

"Suspenful" bus ride? Go catch a public bus in Harlem NYC at 2am like I have and find out what "suspenful" really is! Personally I will take DLR over WDW any day again, simply because I much prefer to "walk" from my hotel, thru they much posh DTD Distrit, and arrive in minutes at their main entrance for both parks. At WDW, yeah.. get on an overcrowded bus, with hysterical kids crying and people bumping into you..after waiting on average 15 mins for such bus to show up at your bus stop. Please, get real... NO ONE loves a bus ride, and especially a crowded one after you have been out and about all day, sweating in the Sun.

    >>I hope I proved my point. I'm DEFINATELY not saying Disneyland is a bad park. I'm just saying WDW beats Disneyland on a 5:1 ratio.<<

I don't think you proved your point but you stated correct facts for the most part, and I respect that. As for WDW beating DLR on a 5:1 ration... yes, you are correct, if you are thinking in physical terms. Then again, it's a matter of opinions, likes and dislikes....

    A point worth repeating.

And since Disney 'jiggles' its figures to annually place the MK above DL and TDL in visitors, one must look at the quality of the 'flagship' park ... and compared to any other MK-style park, it doesn't compare favorably (except in attraction count in HK) ... Period.

If the MK was all that was at WDW, and they had allowed the decline that has taken place to happen, I doubt I'd even visit annually let alone hold an AP.

I go to WDW for Epcot and DAK and the dining and the resorts. Not the very-tired, outlet-malled MK.

This, I definately agree with... I can't say I really enjoyed the Magic Kingdom at WDW as much as a probably would at Disneyland. The only decent ride there is Splash Mountain. However, I really liked MGM and Epcot.

In my last post, I didn't mean to take anything away from Disneyland. I'm almost positive that if that were the first Disney park I've been to, I would be arguing in favor of it. So I guess it's true... Whichever park you went to first and have more memories with, that will more than likely be your favorite.

From what I've read on this site, Disneyland is equal to if not better than WDW. But, I really appreciate Epcot's World Showcase and Test Track! (Which I wouldn't be able to find at Disneyland..)

Agree with you 100% on the bus rides at WDW- they suck, but since I stay at the BW or YC , I can walk to EPCOT or MGM. When I stay at Contemporary, I can walk to MK.

If I had to choose between all the disney parks I would choose WDW. And thats not because I am a former cast member. LOL

And that's one thing that no one on this website can deny.
