I guess symmetrical isn't the right word to use since you pointed out castles aren't really symmetrical. That's true. I guess it's just the cliff on that side to me makes it look unfinished. My eyes want it to be finished off like the other side is.

As it is now it's sometimes difficult get a clear view of the castle from many points in the hub, which kind of defeats the point of having an iconic castle as the centerpiece of the park, doesn't it?
Originally Posted By FerretAfros I like the scale of DL's castle in comparison to Main Street. You can tell it's there, but it's not overpowering it. The trees they planted just before the 50th have grown in nicely, but probably have at least 5 more years before they need to be replaced, IMO. I like having a little mystery about what's back there when you first see it from the other end of Main Street. MK's castle, on the other hand, is just so freaking huge that you can't miss it; if you take the ferry from TTC, you can see the castle the whole time, and it's only later that the train station and Main Street come into focus. Especially with the lack of trees in MK's hub, that castle really seems to be way too big for its surroundings. Yah, it's good for the traditional family photos and the nighttime projection show, but it's completely out of scale with its surroundings (I also don't like that you can see it from almost anywhere in the park; it really ruins the illusion of being in the jungle/frontier/colonial America/sci-fi world)

Being able to see the castle from almost anywhere is important because it helps guests with their bearings, much like Spaceship Earth at EPCOT and the Tree of Life in AK. The placement and size of the castle at WDW was strategic and based on lessons learned at DL.
