I was particularly impressed with how far back it tilted during the "lightspeed to Endor" moment

Seeing this also made me miss the old version of the ride. The new one is fancy and sleek, but it lacks a lot of the charm and visual interest of the old one especially in the queue. It's like walking into a bland CGI-created world, rather than a real place. And the randomized story segments make it so there's no real connection throughout your flight and the storyline seriously suffers as a result

Maybe they need so much space around the cabin for maintenace work. If you look at DLP's Google Earth image, the ST building is pretty big. If I'm not mistaken, DLP has more simulators than the other parks, but I may be wrong on that.

I would love to see the whole sequence too.

I've never ridden ST:II and I can't wait to do it in January. I love ST at DLP and as great as the ride is, it's time for an upgrade.

    Quick question.
In the queue line of the old ride there was, at DLP still is, C3PO talking, but in the new ride he is piloting the starspeeder, so who replaced him in the queue line?

I recommend the tour by the way, it was great. I took it with my Dad and we were the only two participants do it was really personal and a lot of fun!!!

Did I interpret it correctly that Autopia is being converted to hybrid or electric vehicles? I think that's great, especially since it seems to have worked so well in HKDL. I wonder why they haven't implemented this in the other parks too (well, I guess TDL's is getting removed and DL's was sponsored by an oil company for many years, but there's still time). It's really the only thing keeping the attraction vaguely futuristic

Although the article mentions hybrids, it also says that the new cars are totally electric. They already had the chance to test it, so the transformation has already begun. That's a good move.

I'm surprised they were able to install the chargers and stuff for a test without needing a large investment and permanent infrastructure; it seems like it would be tough to undo if the test went poorly

Putting the chargers to the load and unload station can't be very complicated, since these stations pop up everywhere over here. Nearly every supermarket has one on their parking lots. So it shouldn't be a problem for Disney either.
