It was interesting to see how different they made Space Mountain from the other versions, and how big a deal they made of the opening ceremony. With all the pageantry and stuff, it was almost like a mini version of the Olympics opening ceremonies. It's almost like they knew that it was going to be thing that turned the park around

Of the vague memories I had of the original Space Mountain, I was really impressed with it. When I rode Mission 2, I was disappointed by it, even though I don't remember much of what made it originally stand out so much in my mind. Hopefully the work they're doing now will help restore it to its original glory

I think SM is still a great ride, but De La Terre a La Lune was so much better, especially the soundtrack. I've only ridden the original version in 200 and can't really remember it, but I know the soundtrack was fantastic.

Don't get your hopes up too high. WDI isn't redoing the attraction. They are just refurbishing the mountain. I'm not even sure if the rumoured new ride vehicles are coming.

SM, POTC and BTMRR at DLP are definitely better than in Florida, but are they also better than in Tokyo?

Florida's HM/PM is also great. There are some cool effects which we don't have in Paris, eg the foot steps in the staircase.

The backstory of DLP's PM fits perfectly into the whole Frontierland story. Do the other HMs also have a backstory?

TDL's Space and Pirates are carbon copies from DL. Those versions are generally considered to be better than WDW, but I think that DLP's are probably the best. TDL's Big Thunder is relatively unique, since it has a smaller footprint to work with, so it spends more time in the tunnels and has a different layout

Where TDL's attractions really win is the incredible maintenance. Everything there looks like it opened yesterday, and couldn't be nicer. However, so much of the park is copied and pasted from other parks that it's hard to say that TDL's is the best. For DLP, they really went back to basics and reimagined the attractions, which it a much more exciting concept to me. I'm really interested to see how the SDL Pirates ride turns out, since it seems like they're taking a similar approach there

    - Space Mountain: The ride is currently under refurbishment and will open again in July. Besides the repainting and new LEDs, WDI is also bringing back the canon recoil effect. During this refurbishment, the Nautilus was also repainted and the bubble effects are returning. In 2017 SM will close again and will receive new ride vehicles.

    - Videopolis and Hyperion Airship: Besides the repainting and adding new LEDs, the refurb will bring back the airship's special effects that were part of it when the park opened. Currently Videopolis is being prepared for the Jedi Academy and for its wheelchais accessibility. The restaurant's kitchen is also being renovated.

    - it's a small word: The ride will be closed during the second half of 2015. The facade will be repainted, the sound system will be renewed and new dolls will come. Maybe the Disney dolls?

    - Big Thunder Mountain: The will close at the end of 2015 and will reopen at the end of 2016. BTM will get the DL Anaheim upgrades. I also read somewhere else that a new ride contoll system will be installed, which should allow more trains on the track.

    - La Cabane des Robinson: The attraction will close in the second half of 2015. The renovation will include the waterfalls, the treehouse itself and the restoration of all the effects as well as adding new ones.

    - Peter Pan's Flight: It will be closed in the first semester of 2015. A new light system and new colours will be added.

    - Pirates of the Caribbean: It will be closed in the first half of 2017. The ride will receive a new light and sound system, new scenes (Jack Sparrow) and new effects (Hurricane).

    - Star Tours: Closed from early 2016 until early 2017. Star Tours II is coming.

    - Studio Tram Tour: Closed from August 2016 until early 2017. The attraction will receive three new scenes.

    - Animagique: No details, but the attraction will be completely redone to offer a new and more magical experience.

My French isn't that good anymore, but I hope I got most of it right. DLPExpress attended a CM presentation in which Tom Wolber (ED SCA CEO) presented the company's future.

Sounds like a lot of good things in the pipeline! Hopefully they'll all turn out nicely. I hope that the iasw refurb doesn't add the Disney characters to the ride, but it seems inevitable with how things have been going.

DL's Big Thunder additions are really cool, so I hope that DLP's turns out just as neat. I hope they also take this opportunity work on the lift hills, since they're incredibly loud and can be heard all over the park. It didn't seem like any of the other coasters have this problem, so it's odd that it was so bad on BTMRR

I'm also surprised that they're refurbing the treehouse without trying to tie it into a more current property. It needed some help when I was there 3 years ago, but it seems like an unlikely candidate for a major refurbishment

That was just my interpretation, because there have been rumours that dLP wanted to increase the capacity. Once I read that they wanted to remove the locomotive part to add a another carriage. So maybe that might not happen at all.

I don't really know if the airship was moving, but some parts were. I have to admit that I've never paid so much attention to it, so I don't really know.

As for the rockwork, it seems they are keeping it. I don't see the theatre as a part of Discoveryland, because it already housed the wonderful Lion King show. The rocks hide some stage parts, so I don't mind keeping them.

I'm sure that they are going to add the Disney dolls. Hong Kong and Anaheim already have them. They are very subtle and match the other dolls. I don't need them and I would also prefer the original version, but I can live with the Disney dolls. Do Tokyo and WDW have the Disney charcters?

I'm far more frustrated that Jack Sparrow will be added to POTC.

Honestly I have never really heard those noises outside of Frontierland.

So far, it's just Anaheim and Hong Kong that have them, but considering that Tokyo is moving their entire iasw facility in the near future, I wouldn't be surprised if they got them too. Although some of them are subtle and fit in great (Lilo and the White Rabbit are the best examples of this IMO), others are pretty blatant and stick out like a sore thumb. I think a lot of it has to do with the music, which doesn't blend at all and is often way too loud to ignore. As much as they want you think that it was composed to blend with the main iasw theme, they're literally just playing another random recording over top of it, with little/no regard for the logical chord progressions

    >>Honestly I have never really heard those noises outside of Frontierland.<<

Maybe I caught it at a particularly bad time. It was easy to hear it from all over Frontierland, and it could also be heard on Adventure Isle and in the Hub. I even heard it in Discoveryland, but I think that was just because I happened to be in a clear spot all the way across the park
