Originally Posted By FerretAfros I also like DLP's POTC better than the original. Although there's a certain charm to the DL version, DLP's has a much more logical plot and the whole experience seems a lot tighter In addition to the new versions of classic E-tickets (Pirates, Phantom Manor, Big Thunder, Space Mountain, small world), I also recommend taking some time to explore off the beaten path. Each land at DLP has at least one walkthough attraction (Main Street arcades, Fort Comstock, Adventure Isle/Swiss Family Treehouse, Aladdin's Enchanted Passage, castle walkthrough/dragon, Alice's Curious Labyrinth, 20,000 Leagues), and they all highlight the care that was put into the park's design and details. There are also lots of random under-utilized paths all over the park; it's kind of fun to wander down them and have some extra space to yourself. One of my favorite "hidden in plain sight" tricks is the covered walkway that extends from POTC in the back of the park all the way up to Town Square; I'm sure it's really nice to have when the weather is less than ideal The Studios doesn't have as much great stuff, but it does have some nice elements. Crush's Coaster is a lot of fun, though the waits are often ridiculous. The car stunt show is neat if you haven't seen it in WDW. Ratatouille is supposed to be good, but I haven't done it myself. But the real surprise standout for me was Cinemagique. It's basically just a movie montage with some limited in-theater effects, but it's incredibly well done and even works well with the language barrier

I can just tell you that I absolutely love both parks in Anaheim Definitely use your fast pass to your advantage for some of the longer lines Like the cars ride in DCA and Space Mountain and Indiana Jones in the original Disneyland park Don't miss the show Fantasmic and the World of Color And do book some of the best restaurants ahead that you will definitely want to experience Namely Napa Rose and the Carthay
Originally Posted By Dr Hans Reinhardt "Since I'm going to Anaheim next year too, I'm also open for some advice." My advice is don't go for less than two nights if you want to do it all and stay at the DL Hotel or the GCH if you can afford them. DLR has a lot packed into a very small area, and if you are a Walt history fan you'll particularly want to take it slow and experience many of the 1st generation versions of Disney's most beloved attractions like the Jungle Cruise, the Tiki Room, the Monorail, Matterhorn Bobsleds, Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough, and the Submarines. Other Disney parks may be newer, bigger, and grander, but none are more charming than Disneyland. It truly is the happiest place on Earth. You should also take a few hours and explore DTD, and be sure to stop and get beignets at Ralph Brennan's. Even though it isn't Disney's most immersive hotel property a visit to the DL Hotel for an adult tropical beverage at Trader Sam's should be on your agenda too (if you like to indulge). Even if you don't drink don't miss it... they have food as well. California Adventure is a much more contemporary experience than DL, but I would rate most everything highly with maybe the exception of A Bug's Land unless you are visiting with young children. The park has some exceptional shows and unique attractions that are only at DCA. WOC, the Animation Building, and Aladdin show shouldn't be missed on a first trip. And like LuvDisneyTrips said, you must hit at least one of the park's high end restaurants (I suggest the Carthay because of the Walt connection). Oh, and do not, I repeat, DO NOT miss Paint the Night, Fantasmic, and the DL Forever fireworks show. Have fun!

We do them every time, so it isn't that special anymore for us, but for a first time visitor, they are definitely worth seeing. >>>My advice is don't go for less than two nights if you want to do it all and stay at the DL Hotel or the GCH if you can afford them. <<< We plan to have three full days at DLA. We would love to stay in a Disney Hotel, but since it is part of a three weeks trip through California and Nevada, money is an issue. We are planning to stay in one of the hotels next to DL. >>>You should also take a few hours and explore DTD, and be sure to stop and get beignets at Ralph Brennan's. The bar looks just incredible and since I enjoy my drinks on vacation, I'm pretty sure we will spend some time there. Thanks for all the infos.

I hope the lines weren't too long. >>>Was not impressed with Indiana Jones as it was a roller coaster ride outside....not anything like DL's version<<< It shouldn't be compared to the one in Anaheim. Back when DLP opened they needed another coaster, because the lines for BTM were huge and Space Mountain was still two years away. Indy was a quick fix that became a permanent attraction. Despite the basic layout I like the ride, especially when it's already dark outside.
