Since the simulators are the same used in the US, it shouldn't be a big problem to change the film and the projection system. Maybe it takes longer because of exterior work?

The layout looks like the All Star, Pop Century and Animation resorts, so I would assume that the theming might be similar.

It sounds like they're trying to take the first step toward MyMagic+ integration (though WDW had a similar program from the early 00's, long before MM+)
Originally Posted By dagobert >>Will the Magic Cards have a magnetic strip like a normal credit card, or will they be RFID like the newer stuff in WDW?<<< I don't know. These cards remind me of the Key to the World cards we got in 2008. Did those cards have a payment function? European are much more reluctant to such payment systems. I guess that's why it took DLP so long to implement such a system. We usually use our Maestro Cards, because it takes the money right out of our bank account and doesn't have to be processed through Disney or a credit card company. Honestly I don't get why I should use the Disney card for payments. I mean I have to get the card out of my pocket, so I can use my regular Maestro Card as well. I get that the Magic Band is very convenient, but I still prefer Maestro over Disney when it comes to payments.
Originally Posted By FerretAfros Yes, the Key to the World card could be used for payment, hotel key, and park tickets, all in one For something like this, I also wouldn't use it for payment; it's no easier for me to pull the Disney card from my wallet than my normal card, so why go through the hassle of processing it through Disney? There are certain instances where it makes sense, like if you're not carrying a wallet (water parks and skiing come to mind), want your kids to be able to make purchases on their own, or if the payment system is easier than using a card (like Magic Bands), but those seem like relatively infrequent scenarios in a theme park The only advantage I can see is if you want your kids to be able to make purchases, but they don't have their own bank card. In a theme park I imagine most people bring their wallet, and using one card is no easier than using another, so I can't see either of those as being real advantages here

If either one ever wants to expand in the future, there's really no room for it. A very odd design choice, in my opinion

Universal Orlando's Cabana Bay Beach Resort has a 50s theme, if I'm not mistaken.

Originally Posted By FerretAfros Cabana Bay does have a generic mid-century modern theme, but from what I've seen it doesn't really reflect the look of the beach movies. It's sort of designed to look like an over-the-top motel of that era, rather than making it look like something else that just happens to contain a hotel (as is more typical of Disney's designs) Speaking of beach movies, I just caught the original Gidget on TV yesterday. Although it's charming, it's tough to believe that it was popular enough to launch a whole genre. I guess it was all about catching the right wave (so to speak) at the right time
