First look at DLP's new dragon float. First photo: Fire-breathing dragon parade float arrives at Disneyland Paris
Looks good! I like that there are some minor stylization differences between it and the WDW version. It will fit the park nicely
Looks like there's a lot of work going on right now, gearing up for the 25th anniversary. Good thing they finally finished the long refurbishment on Big Thunder; I'm not sure the park could afford to have anything else closed at the moment
I just read in the news that TWDC plans to take over EDSCA completely. They already transfered the shares Prince Alwaleed holds in DLP into TWDC shares. Disney now owns nearly 90% of DLP. I guess I have to sell mine as well.
Wow, that's really big news! Presumably this will be a very good thing for DLP, since it essentially eliminates the need for it to be independently profitable. It may have mixed results for the US parks, since it will presumably be pulling down their profits. The general timing of this announcement also makes me think that they have plans for one of their now-typical big-budget "redos" for one or both parks. Given that these really amount to one or two hyper-themed areas tacked onto the side of the existing park, with cosmetic (but essentially meaningless) improvements elsewhere, it will be interesting to see what happens Here's an article I found that gives more details Disney Boosts Stake in Paris Theme Park, Offers to Buy Rest
It's about time they brought the park back to its original state. It was the most beautiful of all the MK parks. Isn't the rumor that they get a mini version of SWL?
Honestly I doubt that some big expansions are going to happen. DLP's biggest problem is still the huge amount of debts and that has to ba addressed first. I can imagine that WDSP will get the rumoured TSMM attraction.
Ye there was a rumour about a SW mini land, but it vanished again. I guess with the great looking SWLands coming to the US parks the plan might have been dropped. I'm still hoping for either a Marvel themed land like the one that's coming to HKDL or a SWLand coming to WDSP.
I read a rumor today that there's talk of bringing Fantillusion back as part of the 25th. It seems like a long shot, considering it hasn't been used in nearly 5 years and the operational difficulties in the summer with the castle show (since it gets dark so late), but I also thought it was unlikely that DL would ever run MSEP again so what do I know
It'll be interesting to see what, if anything, this leads to for the parks. It's definitely an incredible opportunity. I think in imagineer terms either the SW miniland in Discoveryland or some sort of Marvel presence at WDSP is most likely, but I'd like to see the old Beauty and the Beast attraction resurrected for Fantasyland.
I hope not and at an DLP fan event last fall the DLP COO said that at least for the next years our Tower is safe.
I would also love to see the BatB attraction that was envisioned for DLP, but I guess it's more likely to get the Little Mermaid ride instead. It's just wishful thinking but it would be fantastic if they bring the original mermaid ride that was designed for DLP in the early 90s.
The Santa Fe and the Cheyenne hotels will get Starbucks coffee houses in April. Disney removed the arcades and now Starbucks is moving in.
TDL is supposed to be building a big budget trackless BATB ride in the near future (though the timeline on their projects seems to be up in the air at the moment, partly due to Olympics construction in Tokyo), so that could potentially be cloned for DLP. It sounds like it would be really expensive, so it may not be the best use of limited funds, but they could share come development costs WDSP was also supposed to get an Avatar land early on, but it got quietly cancelled somewhere along the line. Given how much the land is costing WDW for only 2 attractions (rumored to be near 1billion USD), it sounds like it was good that it isn't going to Paris too. It looks like it will be an incredibly detailed land, but hardly a good value for the money
I'm sure opening day Kris from EndorExpress will be there for the reopening. I like the looks of the place.
