I admit I enjoyed meeting Mickey and the other fabulous five, but mainly becuase of the comics over here. If it is so important for Disney to add more and more characters, I wish they would add Duckburgh to Toon Studios so that I can meet my favorite Disney character Scrooge McDuck.

I was happy to see them having fun with them, but it saddens me at the same time. What I did realise though, we are not really Disney fans (I prefer Dreamworks really), we are Disney park fans. Oh well....

I'm not a big fan of Dremaworks movies. I haven't seen many, but after Madagascar and Over the Hedge I stopped going to see their movies, but the first Shrek movie was a lot of fun. Disney movies, WDAS in particualar weren't that good either, but since the Disney comics are still a big deal over here, many people want to see them just because it is Disney. Walt Disney Motion Pictures Austria established the tradition to release the movies just before Christmas. Then there is a big TV show before Chrustmas that collects money for people who were not that lucky and each year Disney characters appear with the CEO of Disney Austria and hand over a cheque and goodies that can be purchased by auction. You see Disney movies have a special standing here. I have to admit that Disney comes always first, especially Pixar.

Or do they just prefer the Nickelodeon cartoons?

My daughter likes the Princesses and Minnie, Mikey likes Stitch and Goofy. they do watch the Disney cartoons, although How to Train Your Dragon, Shrek, Megamind, the Simpsons Movie and the Spongebob movie are more popular for them (and my son loves Star Wars). But when it comes to TV, Sponge Bob is the top fav (and Dora was my daughter's fav when she was younger). I think they loved the novelty as well as preferring the characters. The last Pixar film the kids went mad over was the Increadibles. as for Disney, my daughter likes the Princess Movies. Mikey likes Mulan, Treasure Planet and Tarzan. they are not fans of the classic Disney stuff (except for Jessica's Princess fetish). To them, it is all entertainment. DLP is their least fav park too, though I suspect that has something to do with familiarity breeding contempt. I also think they love the shorter queues of the other parks if I am truthful. But this is more proof that Disney should not aim at kids. It should aim for all without speaking down. As for the films Dagobert, judging Dreamworks on Over the Hedge would be like judging Disney on Home on the Range. You must check out Kung Fu Panda, Megamind, How to Train Your Dragon, even the likes of Monsters vs. Aliens. I agree, their early work (except for Shrek) was not great. But their latest work is more entertaining than anything that has come out of the House of Mouse in the last 3 years. I love Pixar, they are works of art. But I find once is enough for a lot of their films, and they have in the main, lost their sense of fun that Toy Story 1 & 2 or Monsters Inc. offered up. Competition is a great thing, and I enjoy they all, but I have to confess, my fan card probably should have been handed in just before Iger came on board.

Maybe I'm wrong on that, but I always think about Dreamworks using a lot of slap stick humour. I admit that not all Pixar movies are good. Cars 2 was a big disappointment, like A Bug's Life. And to be honest WDAS is far away from the top animation studios, except for Tangled.

Autumn and Winter are perfect for watching movies and so I'm sure we will find some time to watch them. Bolna, what's you favorite Pixar, Disney and Dreamworks movie?
Originally Posted By Bolna Difficult question... Dreamworks I can answer easily though - I haven't seen that many of their films, I liked Shrek but did not follow the many sequels. But my favourite of those I have seen is Kung Fu Panda II. Pixar - I loved all of them until Cars 2 (never saw A Bug's Life though), so it is really difficult to pick the one favourite. I think I would pick Wall-E just ahead of Ratatouille. Disney - this is really difficult, especially since a lot of the films I have only seen as a kid and I am not sure whether I would still enjoy them as much today as I did then. And since we are talking about animation I guess I can't pick Pete's Dragon (which has a much better name in German: Elliot das Schmunzelmonster). As a kid I loved Alice in Wonderland (the first ever film I saw in a cinema), Lady and the Tramp, the Junglebook (one of the rare films which I think are better in German than in English, Bare Necessities is a much better song with the German text) and The Sword in the Stone - I was not a princess girl at all... I also liked a lot of the newer ones very much, Lion King, Mulan, Beauty & the Beast, Aladdin and also Tangled. But picking one as a the one favourite???

Trasure Planet is really great in my opinion, becuase it is more for adults and isn't a musical. I also enjoyed Emperor's New Groove and The Great Mouse Detectiv a lot. Of course The Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and all the classics are great too. The first Shrek movie was nice, but don't bother to watch the rest. The third one is terrible and so we didn't want to see the last one. The second one wasn't bad either. My favorite Pixar movie is Ratatouille followed by Wall-E, TS 3, Up TS 2, TS, Cars, Monsters Inc. Finding Nemo, Cars 2 and A Bug's Life.
