But what I get in return is great food in a totally unique setting. Works great for me! >>>> I appreciate the unique setting, believe me I do. However, I've tried all of those things, and the food is NOT only not worth the price, but in my mind is barely edible. Using the burgers as an example, they cost more than an In-N-Out burger and taste south of 6th grade cafeteria. Unique settings are unable to make up for the food costing more, and tasting worse than most neighborhood chains. I love Disneyland, but the food is just wretched.

Either I don't know good food from dogfood (which I believe to be totally false), or you've had very bad luck and hit the restaurants I mentioned on bad days (unlikely but possible), or your standards are much higher than mine. I repeat, that roast beef from the Plaza Pavilion is incredibly tasty, and the whole meal is excellent for cafeteria style food.

I've been on other flights with other airlines and had similar experiences. I can't really imagine that anything Disney serves up is THAT bad. So-so...sure. But "barely edible" is a special classification only to be found in prisons and at 35,000 feet, I believe.

Unfortunately the average DLR guest's income is in dollars, not pounds

That's easy to understand (though mileage may vary...personally I'm okay with "mediocre" if, and ONLY if, it's a great bargain)... That differs quite a bit from "barely edible" in my book. "barely edible" isn't worth the cost, at ANY price (meaning, I wouldn't even eat this crap if you paid me). So, mediocre isn't a GOOD thing, but it's more along the lines of "shrug your shoulders, chow down, and move on". Barely edible though, that's different (if I actually sampled something at any Disney park I really considered barely edible, I'd be having a conversation with the manager...that's for sure). Maybe I'm missing the jist or something.

Keep in mind, when I say Disneyland, I'm keeping with the park itself, not DTD, or the wonderful lobster nachos at the Cove Bar. I've had the gumbo, the chicken, Blue Bayou, Rancho, Mickey Mouse pancakes, you name it, I've eaten there in the hopes of finding a meal I could enjoy. I have to eat outside of the park, because inside I'm getting robbed of both cash, and flavor.

Tomorrowland Terrace has similar fare, but their fruit and yogurt parfait is flat out wonderful. The fried chicken at Plaza Inn is superb as are the table service entrees at Cafe Orleans and the little place on Main Street whose name is eluding me at present. The homemade corn dogs from the truck near the Plaza Inn are truly a heart attack on a stick, but you'll never eat a better one. Good but ordinary fired chicken fingers can be had at the Stage Door Cafe. As for Rancho del Zocalo, the grilled chicken is delicious, plain and simple. Good sides, salads and desserts as well. I had a bad experience with pasta at Redd Rocket's once, but the last pasta dish I had there was delicious, filling and generously portioned. Almost enough for two. Ah, but the best kept secret? Head across the way to Whitewater Snacks, which is actually attached to the hotel, but accessible from the park. Theirs is probably the best grilled chicken sandwich I have ever eaten, right down to the homemade guacamole. The Grotto Bar has insanely fabulous lobster nachos and the trattoria has great food and table service as well. Pizza-Ooh-Mow-Mow is a waste of time. Cute atmosphere, mediocre pizza.
