Everyone really seemed to enjoy watching it. They've all been to the park and have some familiarity with it, and they liked watching and telling stories about their past visits.

This thing is great for when friends are over - it's unusual yet interesting and fun, and unlike a movie it doesn't have any plot to follow and people can talk and enjoy it at the same time. It was a hit!

I watched the two main things on disc 1 last night. I agree that to a real DL aficionado, there aren't a lot of surprises or secrets, but it's still great.

The biggest surprise to me? That there was a male host/guide on StorybookLand in 1956. I thought this was a female-only cm position until the 90's, seemingly. I know when I was there in the 60's, 70's, and even into the 80's, you never saw men with that job (just like you never saw female canoe guides for a long time). So I assumed that would have been the case in the 50's too. Nope. There he was, describing the three pigs' houses.

According to a book I read (it may have been one of the Mouse Tails books), many of the CM's got asked on dates by male park guests (even in the 50's), which was when they decided to switch it over to female CM's, trying to leave the males on the dock as much of the time as possible.

I think I'd rather drown myself in the canal than have to do that one.

On the other hand, I don't think Disney would probably keep me in the job for very long, either.

I think it was only a few trips ago I got my first male guide on SLCB, after decades of only women. That's why I was so surprised to see a male guide from the 50's.

Men on Storybook don't bother me all that much, but I will say that I still can't get used to women on Steam Trains.
    It just doesn't fit.

The men on the Skway was probably due to practical reasons. You had to be pretty hefty to move those things.
