So $12 for a CD seems somewhat modest by comparison.

I am glas Disney's coming up with ways to make life easier for families, too bad the hotels haven't caught on and added this kind of feature to increase their revenue, that way you could do this at your hotel after Disney time and pick them up the next morning or evening

Oh well, it was like .29 cents each pic. Is there a better deal out there or is this good??

Yes the fee Disneyland charges is only to make you the CD, not to print them. That would be an additional charge, but since you would have the disc, you could use it to print it somewhere else later- somewhere cheaper. It takes a while to get used to the Digital Camera way of thinking, especially if you're not a big computer person. Essentially you want to think of your camera/memory card, a photo CD, and your computer as storage spaces, each with it's own limited capacity. Your camera is the only one that can take pictures, so essentially you want to be able to free up it's memory card whenever possible. If you fill up the memory chip you aren't able to take pictures until it's no longer full. The most direct way to unload the memory card while still preserving the images you've taken (not deleting them into oblivion that is) is to download them directly to your computer. Then you can pick and choose which ones you want to keep and edit them at your liesure. Essentially this costs nothing also. The CD is the other option, and while convenient (easy to find a place to do it for you) it does cost something. As has been stated, it's usually worth the cost, since it means you can continue taking pictures. To me though, I hate to do it, cause I know if I can just get them onto my computer directly I'll burn em to a disc eventually and the disc I use only cost me 20 cents, and I can put several times more pics on it than the one round from my memory card. Anyway, that's the way I look at it. I guess we probably all have different priorities and approaches.

I agree this is the best way to do it and when I'm at home I would do this too!

It's just when you are travelling it's sometimes easier to just pay whatever price they are asking just for convienience!

Here is what happened to us on our very first ever trip to disneyland.

With all the excitement of being in disneyland for the first time I had 3 memory cards. We brought our laptop to take off the pictures each day. Now mind you before we left home I packed everything int he laptop and DH came behind me and said we didn't need this and that so he removed them from the bag.

He didn't however check to see if we would be able to remove the pictures. Low and behold here I go on our first day and fill all 3 cards... That night we tried to take the pictures off and NOPE not gonna happen. We were missing something that we had left at home. So the next morning we went into the disneyland hotel business office and spent 3 hours trying to email them to ourselves. Very frustrated as this didn't work we then headed over to the business center in The GCH. Nothing there. Finally DH found someone that told us about Kinkos.. He walked over there to get some software while our 3 kids and I went into the park. ( The kids were getting restless at this point)

As frustrating as this all was we learned a lesson. When Mommy packs something don't go unpackin anything..lol.. I would have paid twice the price DL is charging to get my pictures off and have those 4-5 hours wasted in trying to locate someplace with this service.

I am hauling the laptop, and have taken the time to make darn sure that I can indeed upload the pics onto it! computers are notorious though for crashing, and can you imagine uploading a weeks worth of DL holiday pics onto it then having a crash and losing them all? I think either having enough memory cards in the first place, or getting the cd's done is the best bet of all.
