Most APs dont spend alot of money in the park and some people would end up spending more on admissions which would even out those that stopped going to the park.

I have gone through this debate before but there are some who don't buy anything but the numbers are that the majority of purchases (especially big ticket items) are make made by APs. I suspect it would even be greater if they actually listened to AP suggestions for better projects but that would mean someone in marketing would have to admit they were wrong and DL isn't going to do that.

All purely speculation on my part, but there are alot of Disney "Freaks" out there with alot of money to blow.

And that's a good thing. You go less, which means there are fewer people at the park. That means Disney spends less on guest control, security, and capacity. So their overhead goes drastically down, while their per guest/per visit revenue goes up.

And that's even better. That means Disneyland spends less money to make you happy, but gets the same amount back for it. It's a win-win for them.

Not the way I see it. If I only go twice (let's say admission is $50). They may spend less on security and crowd control but they have lost $125 in admission revenue and $160 in merchandise revenue. That is assuming I go only four times and spend $80 on average per visit. I probably went to Disneyland about 20 times last year (I know its alot the average PAP I think goes 4-6) and I spent $205 on a passport which means it cost me an average of $10.25 to get in. That is a great deal but according to my quicken program I spent over $400 at the park divide that by 20 visits and you get another $20 per visit on average. That means I spent last year 30.25 on average per visit and while that is still a better bargain than full price admission it is still a very heafty profit for Disney (even including the cost of extra CMs). Comparing the overall cost you can see that I spent $605 with a passport and without one I would of spent at max. $260. This doesn't even take into consideration the days I go and just sit there and not even ride a single ride. Although if DL is looking to bring down overhead cost might I suggest reducing the amount of free passes they give out to CMs. DL is essentially paying them to go to the park on their off days. Although the other day I spoke to a CM in the China closest and she said almost half of her paycheck went back to Disney at the CM store. Anyhow, I know even if DL CMs don't know Disney knows where the "bread is buttered" so to speak. If not why would they continue to advertise APs on the map and offer numerous different discount AP offers.

With an AP, i buy lots of merchandise especailly around christmas time. I eat at the restaurants once or twice a visit. before i had an annual pass my family never ate at disneyland. we were lucky if we even got a pen or a pencil as a souvenier. our souvenire was the map and ticket stub that i used to save. and i know many other APers who are the same as my family. never spent money there until they got an AP. just my two cents. to me disneyland would not be doing good without APs. although i do agree that some action should be taken since there are so many of us. yes there are crowded walkways because there are so many of us but mostly the reason for that is fastpass. the park was way better without it. and it should go away.

they'd better be careful not to do anything to make us mad... there's a lot of us.

how will they cut down the #'s? will they stop selling them in the future or what?

How do you know it's a hefty profit?

What if I told you Disneyland spent nearly 60 dollars accommodating each guest. That's to pay for the ride ops, the security, the custodial, the food ops, the ticket takers, facilities, costuming, the electric and water bills, and whatever incredibly high insurance premium they have to pay. That means to break even, even single guest has to spend a minimum of 60 dollars per visit.

Could you say you spend 60 dollars per visit? You could if you came in on a one day ticket and bought one meal.

For 20 visits, you'd have to spend over 1000 dollars for Disney to break even on you, not 600. The only way Disneyland can even hope to break even with so many APs in the park, is to cut services and close attractions - which ironically is exactly what they have been doing the last few years. Any return to the previous standards would absolutely require a reduction in the number of Annual Passholders.
