Here's something else to think about. I noticed when I read reviews of Discovery Cove the majority of the "bad" reviews had to do with weather issues canceling the main event (swimming with the dolphins) and the fact that the rest of the place wasn't really anything special and DEFINITELY not worth the price. Apparently there are no refunds, and I would assume Disney would be the same.

Can you imagine paying that sort of a price and having ALL the activities (everything described here is outdoors right?) get washed out?

So you pay hundreds of bucks for essentially a "gourmet" meal (I have my doubts about this too, considering how many people need to be fed and what constitutes "fine dining" at DisneyWorld as it is) and a show.

That could be quite a mess!

I was at Discovery Cove when it opened. To be honest, the dolphin thing was my least favorite part...way too programmed for me. The rest of the joint was really well done, very laid back due to the attendance limits. They had a really sweet snorkling tank (much like at Typhoon Lagoon, but larger, with barracuda), an awesome lazy river through an aviary, and a neat swim-with-the-rays tank.

We're taking my two boys to WDW this summer and have talked about buying the no-dolphin-interaction ticket for Disco Cove, because they are too young for that. I just need to check to see if they still sell that option.

But it'd be more memorable to say you got gored at a Disney Park....

You could take your kids to Epcot 20 years from now and be like, this is where the bull tossed me into the lake...

    Don't swim with dolphins.

I do believe they are going for the Indiana Jones feel.
I don't know how popular this will be though.

So, they likely have something here that might work, given their ability to do it in a quality manner such that it is worth the money spent on it.

Every major project that disney has ever done has had a level of creativity and quality that can't be matched. When people are complaining about something being bad at disney, they are comparing to another part of disney. I have never read anyone on these forums say that universal did this better than disney. All you see is 'SM isn't as great as BTM, or IASM isn't as nice as snow white'. So based on that I think disney is going to do a great job with this project, no matter what version it is going to be by the time it gets officially announced. That is one of the reasons Disney takes its time to announce things. They are not accountable until its official. That large space has been behind animal kingdom for quite sometime now and so have the cranes. The one thing I am going to find interesting, is how disney markets it to the family of four with two little kids, because at the end of the day, that is who mickey is working for.

First, it hasn't been announced yet (though there have been surveys done on it, it may be a "done deal".

Second, I wouldn't exactly consider a park that entertains 2000 people per day a "hahahahaha" 5th gate. I didn't expect a 5th large theme park anytime soon, but something that has about double the capacity of the American Gardens Theater? Meh. It might be cool, but the whole staffing issue wouldn't be a big deal with such a small park.

It's not like it's some "all new" sort of experience really. Just a really pricey add-on to something they already have.
