I'm going to guess that a lot of the expense went into the R&D to enable the left-right whipping action, and the theming.

And don't necessarily believe that because technology gets used in one ride that it will show up elsewhere - anyone see the Pooh (Japan) technology being used outside TDL?

If this were a simple Tilt-a-Whirl, okay, that's pretty easy to get a price tag on. But something original, custom designed and highly themed? What should the price be? What can you compare it with to find out of $100 million is too much?

I thought I heard that it is being used in HKDL's Mystic Manor, but I could be wrong.

But generally if WDI spends $100 on something, someone else could do it better for $35 these days.

It's just not smart. It's like giving a $100 million contract to a kicker in the NFL. Sure, he'll be with you for a long time and maybe win a few games, but it's not smart, affordable, or sustainable. You are overpaying for no reason.

So what would be a reasonable amount to spend on this attraction? $1 million? $10 million? What is the ROI on an attraction such as this?

World Of Color seems to be a big hit. Did they spend too much? Too little? Just right?

Well, if you go by Spirit's ratio, 100:35, it would cost $35 million if built by sensible folks.

To put things in perspective. The entire Wizarding World of Harry Potter project reportedly cost $265 million. Carsland is costing around $400 million and climbing.

Forbidden Journey cost around $100 million. The underwhelming yet decent Mermaid darkride allegedly cost the same. Mission Space cost $100 million.

Just because you have the money, it will be there for a while, and people will ride it doesn't mean you give WDI a blank check. It doesn't make sense.

Sure, they built DCA on the cheap, but they also didn't have a sound concept either. Throwing money at a project for the sake of throwing money is folly.

In the end, DCA, DL and WDW will all hurt from this "investment" because it wasn't done smartly. Overspending on a minor Carsland filler attraction means less money for something new at any domestic park.

It's amazing what companies and creative people can do on a budget when they know how to spend money wisely.

That was the original plan, until accountaneers slashed the budget.

So, unless it's BETTER than FJ, it shouldn't cost that much.

    And what's better than FJ..?

Nothing. But Spider-man and Indy are on the same level, I'd say.
