Heh, originally I had in the end of my last post "in-n-out excepted." I dont' know if the high pay is what makes it successful, but it doesn't hurt.

    IMHO, why it works...

Family owned and operated, so no need for short term profits to keep stockholders happy, just good planning for long term growth.

Non-Union. Hire within the company. The way to improve is to be a good employee, and stand above the rest. Do that, and you get a promotion. Unions tend to want to treat everyone the same, and not allow the better workers to get a raise due to merit.

    Why they remain in business.

They listen to their customers, when they wanted something different, they allowed the menu to expand quietly, to give the customer a choice, but still kept the menu simple.

Quality food, fresh ingredients, and kept to the basics. No changes to flash frozen stuff, trendy items, etc. Just good, fresh food served to order.
