So the "pro" for us is greater than the "con" at this time. 2 of our adult kids always get the shots and the other 2 don't. The 2 who don't are teachers and are rarely sick.

The next year we got flu shots again and they missed 2 or 3 days, again, the next year we missed the shot, they both got the flu and missed quite a bit more school. I think one missed 10 days! Since then we get it every year!!

But the yearly vaccine is a combination of the dead viruses the WHO expects are going around. Viruses mutate quickly, so it doesn't make you immune to all viruses so you may still get sick, but it won't be the viruses you've been immunized against, but another strain or a mutant of the same strain. And all things considered vaccines save more lives than not getting a vaccine.

The flu never materialized, but many people were paralyzed, and 25 died, from the vaccine! In one place I was touching machines that had been touched by the unwashed masses and in the plane was near someone obviously sick. I was sick enough with a high enough fever that I had to go to the hospital. I guess I had some mutation of the virus. And, I'm afraid to look at Lulu's link. I'm not specifically afraid of getting the flu, it's the complications I fear.

There are hundreds of viruses that give people flu symptoms - rhinovirus, adenovirus, parainfluenza viruses, enteroviruses, echovirus, RSV, etc. The flu shot only protects from the 2 influenza viruses (1 A strain and 1 B strain) in the vaccine.

Originally Posted By ecdc >>Typical Fox News style creativity from a website hawking "a complete anti-aging package," and recommending Vitamin D as a flu cure.<< Yup. Just as the media-driven fear surrounding swine flu is a problem, so is anti-vaccine or anti-medicinal attitudes. There's no question the elderly should get the shot, and so should children. My concern is with a lot of people apparently thinking swine flu is the equivalent of Captain Tripps out of The Stand, they'll create a run on the shot and people who really need it won't get it. If I get the flu, I'll miss a couple of days work (not really a bad thing) and be laid up in bed. If my grandma gets it, she could be in serious trouble.

No, I did not have the flu but the shot did make me sick. I do not want this moved to WE but there is more than opinion here. There is much to learn about all immunizations, and if you really want to know; the information is out there. Check it out and then make and educated decision for yourself.

That site is not a credible source of info. Although I do agree that its medical theories are "out there."
