    LOL, GREAT ONE DAVE!

[must have been Skywalker since Neverland is way down south near Santa Barbara :) ]

So Bob, how did you get into Skywalker Ranch? I was under the impression one had to be "connected" or have some business relation with Lucas Film/THX/Lucas Games and arts/Industrial Light & Magic to pass through the gates?

I was there for business in '98 to meet with a THX engineer and that was my one time getting through the gates after living in Marin County for 25 years or more.

    Skywalker.

And yes - Santa Cruz Boardwalk was pretty cool. After the insanity, crowds and nickle and diming of WDW, it was nice to visit a place that was just what it was. Felt like I had kinda gone back in time sixty years or so. Quaint and fun.

I had a friend working there. He found out I was visiting the area and knew of my absolute obsession with Star Wars and would not hear of me NOT visiting.

Funny thing is, several years later I make friends with an American here in Perth who runs his own building maintenance company. We get to talking about his past jobs and turns out he was property manager at the Ranch. He was responsible for all keeping the place properly maintained - an absolutely MONUMENTAL job, I have to say. We talked a lot about the actual layout and about all the people he had met there. One person in particular whom he really loved was Kate Capshaw, saying she was one of THE NICEST people you could ever hope to meet. She is apparently "like one of the guys" and has ZERO airs and graces.

Isn't it wonderful when you find out your childhood idols really are THAT nice?

Anyway, I am wondering who the next person in my life will be who has some kind of connection to that property on Lucas Valley Road.

Congrats Bob, you made it to Santa Cruz, where I went to college and lived for 4-5 years. Glad you liked it :).

I have to admit, sometimes I miss living in Northern California/America. Then, when I'm back there, I miss living in Asia again lol.

    GO BANANA SLUGS!

    Was your "GPA" a 3.0?

or was it "student has shown great improvement", "student has shown a willingness to learn", "student should retake this course for a better understanding of the material" ?

    :)
