How are these to use? Anything to watch out for? Any hidden costs? ... problems? comments?

Last year I found Expedia charged more than going directly to the hotel. Also I believe the discount sites require payment in full at time of booking where the hotels do not, also the cancellation policy may vary from site to site.

Example. If you don't have a credit card, only a debit card, and you book a rental car through Expedia with certain companies, they fail to tell you that even though you paid with a debit card with them and paid for the rental, you will need a major credit card to be able to pick the car up, which is a security measure for the rental car companies in some instances. It's never happened to me, I have credit cards, (unfortunately with balances owed), but I've witnessed this a lot through my line of work.

You just have to make sure your plans are firm, be prepared to pay in advance, and not worry about being within easy walking distance.

For example, I have gotten the Hilton (across the street), the Doubletree (a couple miles away), Crowne Plaza (down Harbor a little bit), the Hyatt (again down Harbor a little bit), etc. They all are convenient for the ART, but not for walking to the resort.

If you wanna save money without staying in a crappy place, Priceline's the way to go in my opinion.

I alwyas book our hotel room on www.getawaytoday.com. They charge per room, not per person, and you can also purchase DL and other theme park tickets on their site. I have always found their prices to be superb (not necessarily airfare though).

    Good luck!

Any suggestions on which date might be better? As well can someone give me the link where we could look up hours for the same times in 2009. We quite often stay at Carousel inn and are familiar with Mimi's on that side. If we stayed on the other side of the park (where the Best Western Stovall's is) can someone give me a list of restaurants within walking distance there. Thanks so much for all the help.

I haven't been on that side of Disneyland for almost 10 years though so i don't know if it's still there or if the quality has remained as good as I remember.

If you go to the website called Mouseplanet, they host a weekly update on Disneyland. They have archives that go back several years. At the end of each update is a calendar that shows times.

This link should take you directly to the Disneyland Resort updates.

It shows the hotels and click on restaurants and there is an overlay of nearby restaurants.
