Our trip to Dollywood is June 4th to 11th. This meet is planned for the last Saturday in May. I believe the 27th? Or did we plan it for Sunday the 28th? I can't recall now.

The zoo is pretty hard to do in half a day. What else were you thinking of doing? Also, it's not downtown (although it's close to it). I think the nearest attraction/s are (in distance nearest to farthest order):

Philadelphia Art Museum
Rodin Museum
Philadelphia Public Library
Franklin Institute (definitely cool, but at *least* a one day trip)
Museum of Natural Sciences
Liberty Bell and associated attractions.

The Franklin Institute is best in my book, but is a little pricey and hard to do with a large group of people. I went on the high wire bicycle on my last trip - what a blast!!! The Tuttleman Omniverse theatre is awesome. Much better than a 360 or IMAX in my book. Sorry, rambling here...

Here's their site: http://www.fi.edu/

But I love the zoo, don't get me wrong.

And yes...I think we settled on the 27th...
I think that was the best day for us all.

Anyone have other suggestions for a contingency plan in the event of rain? The first LP meet in the area was in the historical Philly area. The second one (just beamer and I) was in Lancaster.

Where could be go that we could spend at least a few hours inside? I'm trying to think......

But we are building a house. The builders are going to paint all of the rooms white, and it's not just a primer, but a finished white (whatever you would call that).

My friend Dominick who built the same house went in after the builders painted and painted some of his rooms. He did this before they came back and installed the flooring, all of the doors and molding, and the kitchen cabinets.....basically everything that is in my garage right now.

We want to do the same thing because it will be SOOO much easier to paint before all of the stuff is in the house. I love rooms that are dark colors, and am very excited to paint.

So, the people that are there now spackling were supposed to be done two weeks ago this coming Tuesday. But *supposedly* they all got food poisoning and weren't there for like 5 days, and then when they came back there was only two or three guys. SO they are behind. (I now know after today that they didn't have food poisoning, because while we were there today painting molding they headed off to lunch to eat at the place they *supposedly* got food poisoning at two weeks ago. My question to you is, if you and a bunch of people got food poisoning from a place, would you go back two weeks later?)

Because they are behind, our house isn't painted yet like it is supposed to be. And because it isn't painted yet, we can't paint yet.

Now, if they finish the spackling in the next few days and then the painters get in there right away, we can be painting next weekend and during the following week. But if there is any kind of lag, we'll most likely end up painting the weekend of this meet.

We are going to Tennessee from June 4-June 11, so our painting has to be done before that. In hindsight, I shouldn't have scheduled this vacation. But planning the vacation has helped keep my mind off of the house. I was going stir crazy and needed something to keep my mind on, and the vacation was it.

I have a bunch of friends that were willing to help paint, but a few of them have plans the next couple of weekends. If we have enough people, we'll be able to get the painting done in one weekend.

I'm crossing my fingers that everything works out!!!

I'm out this year, but next year I'll actually have decent vacation time (I used only 1 week this year).

I do hope one of you does a trip report.

Maybe next year I'll convince Inspector to carpool to a NE meet with me.

Of course my meet in Dearborn with him has been delayed a year heh.

We all know Leigh will run out of rollers and paint brushes so we'd all have to use little water colour ones.

However, please don't cancel the meet on my account. You guys can go on the meet. Those danged spackling guys threw everything off! :(

Ok, so Dave and his friend Andy are up the house today painting the kitchen because our guy at Fine Line said our cabinets are being installed tomorrow. I'm going up the house today after work to see if I can get some painting done.

I have Friday and Tuesday off, plus the weekend. But, we have to paint the dining room, living room, Dave's office, and the four bedrooms. We also have to paint all of the trim for the house. UGH!

We had FIFTEEN days without rain. 15! So what do you think happens? Our trim was delivered a week ago today (Thursday) and it has been raining on and off every day ever since. It's easiest to paint outside because there is a TON of stuff in our garage. So, we have to get the trim and the rest of the house painted.

Again, if enough of you are still up for going next weekend, feel free to continue on with the meet. I won't be upset in the slightest.

Do you think you can make it sometime this summer? Maybe Wendy will be coming east to go to the shore.
