I thought she was comming down with a sinus infection. We did not know until later the c-pox were going around her school. Anyway, the virus went "in" on him and he got some wierd kind of pneumonia from the virus. The doctor told us the pneumonia was a very rare complication of the Chicken Pox.

He was in one of the first groups of studies that lead to the eventual realization that ALL kids who get the vaccine need a booster shot a few years later. So, even if you child HAD gotten the vaccine, it is looking like having ONLY the vaccine once, just postpones getting the illness, unless you have a booster sometime around the age 12. Good luck bloona and I hope all is well with your baby soon!

If it was to lessen the effects of the virus, I would hate to think about how bad the sickness would have gotten without the vaccine. She was well covered with them. Not under her eyelids, though. Man, that is terrible just thinking about that!

(I was 23) and when the took them out, they had crevices on them because of the pox marks. I was a senior when I got them and was going to my college orientation for 4 days (1st time really away from the parents at college for 4 days and really was looking forward to it) but the scabs were dry but not gone. I had a lousy time because people were afraid I had some horrible disease and didn't want to talk to me too much.

The rain here today is unbelievable, he thought it was mighty amusing as we set off to school in it and he was in his PJs and not having to go out (his great gran stayed until I got back btw)

After missing her 6th grade camp, a week or so later she went to a school fair. She still had some scabs (no longer contagious) that we tried to hide but some people saw them and treated her like a leper She'll feel a special kinship with you. Pox scabs at college orientation. Poor baby, cyber hugs years later!

Good to get them out of the way before he gets to senior school. You all don't have a very long break between school years. Our school year runs from August 20 through May 23.(private school) We don't have very many days off during the year though. Maybe 1 a month, & 12 days at the holidays off.

Its too hot to visit most places in August, too busy at Easter and too cold at Christmas in Europe. And when he is at the senior school, they will only get a week off the end of May (thus the extra week in the summer) So it looks as if we settle for a week away, or he misses a week of school time in May. Silly. We have a local boarding school, where they have less time off during the year, and more in the summer, as many of the students are from abroad, so I guess that that way, they can go home for a longer stretch.
