There's more than just the Fab 5. There are a number of other Disney characters around as well. /cs

A big body of water surrounded on almost every side (if a big body of water can be said to have sides) by publicly-accessible parts of the park. I don't think the lagoon is big enough to handle Fantasmic, even a watered-down version of Fantasmic. /cs

Some of the new surfaces aren't holding up too well. I'd hate to think what would happen to those poor old floats if they tried to negotiate some of the potholes. Maybe it's a better thing to show the parade in DCA - at least there aren't any hills and the route is nice and smooth.

Logistics will be a problem like where will these things go. It will cost a ton to change the infrastructure. No one said it will be easy.

Does this mean that now i have to go buy yet another re-release of the MSEP music with a new intro on it?? "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, DCA is proud to present.... Disney's Electrical Parade!" The sad part is that other than the fresh coat of light bulbs given to it for the WDW run, DCA audience won't get anything new in it. The NYC Hercules event floats seem to have vanished fron the face of the Earth. There will be no updating with newer character floats (those new floats will be premiering at TDL's new "Dreamlights" parade) You will get the same old and tried show you had back in 96 minus a few floats. I highly doubt DLP will send the Pinocchio and TDL Swan units to DCA anytime soon. (Futurist: the swans have been in DLP for over 2 years. OLC already got their $$ for them and i am sure they wouldn't mind what DLP does with them). One poster have expressed that WDW's 4 parks were introduced without nightime entertainment. True, however it is my understanding that the MK had the fireworks since day 1. Then there is OLC introducing Tokyo DisneySea with an already built-in nightime lagoon show "DisneySea Symphony". So mch for new Disney parks without nightime spectacles.. Another poster was concerned about pavement conditions at DL and what it could do to the electical floats. Fear NOT! as the MK walkways have more than potholes, they've got SINKHOLES all over that park, and i refuse to believe DL surfaces could actually be worst than WDW's MK. Others are expressing interest over Fantasmic being moved to DCA, instead. My question is, where are they going to store all of the equipment currently used for the show?? Behind Calif. Screaming?? and.. Could they perform the show just as it is now, with floating stages moving from right to left of the stage? Even worst, will the riverboat and Columbia be brought over and put on DCA's lagoon?? Would you rather see the boring Pocahontas and miniscule Steamboat Willie from MGM's Fantasmic as replacements on a DCA version of the show?? Again, seems to me TDL gets what DCA should have gotten on that lagoon... I know i have been lucky to have had the MSEP 15 minutes away from me here in Orlando for the last 2 years and am glad some of you who had been hoping for it to return there are finally getting it. However, the Disney Company is capable of bigger and better things. Walt's original jewel deserves that much and more. Whatever happened to the innovative, bigger-than-life ideas that were the hallmark of the Disney Co.?? As somebody else stated here, "DCA is a teen hangout.." Really?? Is that so?? Then if i was a teen, i'd be insulted if being "teen-friendly" means cutting corners in quality and quantity. I yearn for the good old days so bad, and i am not even in my 40's yet!

And I have no reason to go to Disneyland in the summer anymore because its just not the same without the parade. They really dropped the ball bigtime on this fiasco. Instead of that ridiculously lame Light Magic, they should have just done a big budget upgrade on MSEP. And no, I dont care about Team Disney's bottom line. At all. I'm paying premium prices and I want the product to be up to the standard that made Disney famous. Nothing else will do. I'm not renewing my pass this year.

That changed just prior to opening.

Here are guests sitting down at DCA, all the lights are dim, and that funky music comes on... Suddenly, these guests have memories of a magical theme park, Disneyland, flooding back to them. Even if they were never fans of MSEP, they cannot avoid the music triggering the memories. So, after the parade, they might ride the rollercoaster and float on the raft ride, giving the park a little bit more slack because they had that whiff of Disneyland nostalgia. That's what Disney is hoping anyway.

Anyways, the characters were there since day one of opening and during most previews. Al's site was speculating that DCA wasn't going to have characters because on the first few previews, they didn't. However, the reason why they didn't have them (during previews)was because the costumes were still being made - even Al's site later said so.
