Disney always had an element of scare in all his stuff but you usually knew ahead of time that it was scary. Haunted Mansion, Alien Encounter, and POTC (dead men tell no tales)are examples that jump to mind. My recollection of the Tiki Room was a sweet, for the most part, family show. Yes it had the "gods" getting angry but it built up to that. Again it is just my opinion, I'm entitled to it and I stick with it. Of course you are entitled to your opinion. I guess when I visited I didn't see any crying or scared kids...I don't have kids of my own, but I'm just not sure how this show could be any scarier than some other "kid-oriented" attractions...Snow White comes to mind, or even the old "Hell" scene in Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Even Peter Pan has Captain Hook and a pirate fight.

It was warm, fun and I marveled at the AA's. My first real exposure to them. Back then and even now at Disneyland. You see blocks of people singing along, swaying back and forth and generally having a warm fuzzy. Taking my particular bias into account. All I experience now is loud obnoxious noises. For someone that has never seen the old one, the new management is, in all likelihood, fun. For me, it isn't! I guess I overstepped my bounds when I just assumed that others felt the same way. I heard a young mother, with real anger in her voice, telling her friend how upset she was. She remembered the "old" one and couldn't wait to take her children to see it. She had to leave because it was just to intense for them. I think her anger was probably a manifestation of her sadness and disappointment that her kids could not share the same feelings she had. She was totally let down. (her words, not mine). Does it have it's place in the scheme of things? Of course! I just see it as a loss of one of life's simpler pleasures, replaced by a "movie character" that will be forgotten in a few years. Sorry, I didn't mean to impose my opinions on everyone. I just wanted to express them.

Even though, I had seen the original several times I don't really remember it, so the newer version, for me, is enjoyable. And my son couldn't get enough of it. That being said, he's now 3 and has a big fear of thunder so our upcoming trip might be a completely different experience. <<She had to leave because it was just to intense for them. As the first generation of kids who grew up going to WDW come back with their kids, I'm sure there's a hope that our kids will have the same passion for the same attractions as we did. In her case, her children didn't (though they may at a different age) and since the attraction was altered she blamed the attraction. Honestly, that's her problem, and not anybody elses. Who knows what kids are gonna like and dislike. Heck, there were plenty of kids at my local mall hysterical over having to sit on Santa's lap. When I was young I loved the Speedway, and thought it would be great to share a ride with my son. It didn't knock his socks off, but it made his world to ride Buzz' Spaceranger Spin. Maybe if I had gotten to go on a Buzz Lightyear ride when I was 3 I might have felt the same way. It's a different world, sometimes I think we need to get over ourselves and let our kids enjoy it on their own terms.

Personally, having been to UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT dozens of times, I personally never saw scared children being led out. But I don't doubt that it happens, but I think it may not be in the extreme. I also am a fan of the original, having first seen it in DL in 1968, but I enjoy the new one as well. Wish it were longer though. WDW is a business when all things are considered and they have to cater to the majority of their guests or go under. Unfortunately today's sensibilities are not those of the 50's. (Unfortunate if you lovge the old attractions that is.) Attention spans are down and kids demand a much faster paced type of entertainment.

Which makes me believe you all like me ONLY when I am nasty and mean spirited, so why disappoint you? >>Well...you do get one once in a blue moon in attempt to please the folks who complain about his negativity<< That is an out of line statement and quite false. I do not have a problem stating what I don't like about WDW now a days and won't apologize for it either, AND!! I will post the positive when I see it and feel it deserves to be commented on regardless of what you all think of me. I am NOT here to please you or anyone else in regards to my opinions about WDW, but some of you need to take a hold of yourself and not take my opinions on Disney so freaking personally.

I said something positive, happy!?" posts. Kind of like Disney adding a quick Snow White to her ride (who would have thought?) to please the princesses.
