I surely prefer not to see that in DL.

I just worry about taking it to the level where you can buy a beer at any of the food stands. That when the belligerents come out.
It doesn't usually offend me unless my kids are around. But when people are obnoxious and swearing loudly or being overly sexual with their girlfriends/boyfriends in front of my kids a spark ignites inside this CuriousConstance, and I want to destroy!

    I would never advocate that.

I may have mentioned this before, but one of best Disney Park dining experiences was at Walt's at Disneyland Paris. Great food and wine in a second floor dining suite above Main Street. There's remotely like it at DL.

Definitely an upscale place, nicely themed, and certainly not the kind of establishment where a bunch of people would go just to get hammered.

WoC is a huge part of that. GF was surprisingly popular and a large part too. And even the fact more of PP got the Disney Details that many felt have been missing since 2001 (like SSS) likely helped too.

I know that 80% of my trip was spent at DCA.

I know that it two full days (and a night) I never even managed to walk in either Tomorrowland (no 1980s MJ films were viewed) or Toontown at all. I don't think that has ever happened before, even in day trips to the resort.

So, yeah, I'd say it was a great summer for DCA.

And I bet next year will be even better.

I'm glad WOC has made a difference to you locals, but speaking as someone two states away, WOC wasn't enough for us to make vacation plans. Next year, after Mermaid, the new Pier restaurants and Star Tours 2 are finished, then we'll come. (And again the year after that for Carsland!)

A few times this year I found myself annoyed when I went over to DCA to escape the crowds in Disneyland and found DCA crowded itself! For me, personally, DCA has not yet turned the corner in the sense that I can spend a lot of time over there by myself without getting bored after awhile. Now, I have never been a DCA hater. In spite of it's shortcomings, there has always been things about the park that I've enjoyed and enjoyed going over there. But, it would only usually be when friends from out of town were here that I would spend anything close to an entire day there.

This year, particularly this summer, I have spent more time in DCA than usual. For the most part, though, it was spending time checking out construction progress, or photographing and making last visits to things that were closing and going away for good. (I watched and documented DCA's first birth from the ground up, so now want to watch it's rebirth happen.) While I like World of Color, I have not been compelled to make the effort to see it countless times as many I know have. Glow Fest, on the other hand, captured my fancy and it did compell me to visit the Resort more than I normally would during the summer to enjoy it. I am not a drinker or a dancer, so it was not that aspect that appealed to me. I loved the Glow Fest Dancers shows and was mesmerized by the Bollywood dance troupe. Even though I don't drink or dance and, at my advancing age, thought I was quite over going to dance clubs years ago, I even found a fascination with the HPB dance party. My point is that the things that have compelled me to spend more time in DCA this year have been more temporary or transitional things for the most part. It will still be awhile before there will be enough in DCA that I can be content to just wander around enjoying the details and atmosphere of the Park, and catching an attraction here and there, like I am able to do with Disneyland now.

I can only hope that this means that Glow Fest (and its amazing cast, who were having a blast last night for their final night!) will make a return next summer.<<

I loved Glow Fest (particularly the Sunshine Plaza shows part of it) so much that I, too, was compelled to be there on the last night, which was a lot of fun. It was very cool that the very talented choreographer of the fabulous Bollywood dancers was there and they acknowledged him. (Wish I could remember his name.)

I have to agree that they did push the envelope with the entertainment for GlowFest, and I appreciated that it was kind of different and not what we normally get at the Parks. I was skeptical about it all when I first heard about it, and, was quite surprised when it turned out to be something that I liked! It was "hip", but, in a way that was whimsical and compatible with "Disney". I've remarked to some of my friends that I've wondered if they had had something like this when DCA first opened and they were trying to be "hip and edgy", if it might have been more successful than some of the stuff they tried at that time that wasn't so well received. Often when Disney tries to be "hip and edgy", it just doesn't work. It's kind of ironic that something reportedly put together by an outside company did make it work!

I also appreciated the fact that they included the cultural entertainment in the form of the Bollywood dancers. Did I mention that they were fabulous?!! With California being the cultural melting pot that it is, I really wish that the Park would have had more cultural presentations by different ethnic groups over the years instead of little dabs of it here and there. I love that stuff. DCA is the perfect forum for that. Even as DCA is changing to be more reflective of Walt's life in some aspects, that still would fit, as Walt wisely exposed us to different cultures in some of his films and television shows.

Anyway, I really enjoyed GlowFest this summer and appreciate the awesome talent of the performers and the efforts of everyone who put it on, wherever they originated from. Since DCA is moving towards period theming with the impending Buena Vista Street and reimagined HBP, I'm not sure that something like this year's GlowFest would be a good fit thematically in the future. Maybe we'll get a "Hollywood Extravaganza" party instead! I could dig that!

It is, it is even better than Club33 (check out the DLP board to see my trip report with food pictures). Although I do prefer the Silver Spur and Auberge de Cindrillon food wise.
