I've just seen the structure from the back and it looks large enough to house a restaurant and kitchen, but not much more? I think Japan's building is so large because it was fully meant to house the attraction that never happened. I think it's been a carpentry/machine shop for a long time. I've never officially been inside it either, but I've peeked in occasionally through the big open doors on the back.
