I'm also worried about the powers that be reining him in. There have been a lot of people that had a real love for Disney that were cast aside for short term profit. I guess all we can do is hope for the best,

I miss the songs!>> The original EC musical suite was amazing ... and an integral part of the complete experience. When you entered, it was all upbeat and building up/hinting at the WOW factor you'd soon experience. Hearing the Soarin theme, which I love but feel its out of place in EC, and the Imagination Institute theme and whatever that Mission Space thing is ... well, it in no way compares to the amazing creations of people like the late Buddy Baker, the Sherman Bros, Bob Moline etc ... it's funny how it seems like so much of that gets recycled on WDW CDs because there's nothing worthy to replace it.

I think they reached a nadir in going for the short term profit as the main business model. It just does so much damage long term. I've actually been hearing some very interesting (and potentially very positive things) about the MK -- REALLY! Now, I don't believe Phil Holmes finally grew a heart or that Erin Wallace suddenly doesn't want to run Jay Rasulo and Michael Mendenhall's initiatives ... but I know the EC 25th (much like DL's 50th) woke up a lot of sleeping giants at Disney. The atmosphere has changed quite a bit and it won't be so easy to run off execs with testicular fortitude. Ask yourself why EC went from no acknowledgment to getting (from what I've been told) is basically a rededication by Bob Iger. There are many forces at play here.

Though I might be skipping Epcot and maybe all of DisneyWorld (SeaWorld and Universal are taking strong priority this trip...plus I heard a rumor that DisneyWorld is totally FILTHY!)... But in any case, give a shout out to me if you see me around town, a fat American (not hard to find) with two gorgeous Japanese babes on his arms (more rare, for sure).

Call me a "quasi-purist" then...Energy was the ONE AND ONLY original Epcot attraction that actually bored me to tears when I was there for the first time in 1983. **I notice a lot of you want to put old stuff back. As much as I miss Horizons, I think it would be a mistake to bring all the old stuff back. Granted, EPCOT Center of old was a better overall experience than Epcot of today, but the park should be a living and growing entity, not a museum.** Agreed 100%...the old stuff is gone. Dead and gone (even wonderful Horizons *sniff*)...but the spirit of Epcot IS forward looking and so it should be. I just hope that the new stuff is more in line with the old "vision" if you will..."testing cars" and "scary trips to mars" are fine for the magic kingdom but don't work for me in Epcot personally (even though they are fun, sure). FUNNY, isn't it, that you could actually compare test track and mission space to autopia and mission to mars on steroids, huh? Couldn't really say that about ANY of the original Future World masterpieces. They were truly unique, each and every one.

The only good part (and the only part that's still there) was the dinosaurs. Still, it had 2 theme songs, which are now gone and replaced with a nice score by Bruce Broughton, but nothing "singable". "But in any case, give a shout out to me if you see me around town, a fat American (not hard to find) with two gorgeous Japanese babes on his arms (more rare, for sure)." LOL, forgot to mention one is a toddler, right? I'll be at WDW for a week with a bunch of crazy friends so I hope I can even get time to "relax". I'll keep an eye out though!

I don't think you were being corrected - the poster was simply singing the song with gusto.

Let's just say, if I and a few others get to have our way, a little more of the "future" will return to Future World will return. It'll take months before I can say anything else. And you know what they say about good intentions... But wish us luck.

This sounds very promising, like a lot in the Disney Universe of late. It's almost like a pall has been lifted that drifted over the kingdom for years ... and now, all we need is for the chief pallbearer (JR) to depart and the blue birds will sing and the sun will shine and maybe, just maybe Song of the South will be released on DVD.
