    The WalMart effect there too!

And World Showcase is one of the highlights of WDW ... does it need updating? Better believe it? Does it need better custodial and some TLC? Sure, but what parts of WDW don't? ... But all in all, it's just a highlight of WDW ... and great to walk around, eat, drink, see some entertainment and get some exercise.

(I did only two laps around the lagoon last night because my spirited companions were a bit ... uhm ... ah ... not desiring more exercise when gelatto at the Beach Club -- so much better than overrated ice cream at Beaches and Cream, btw -- was calling!)

Oh and I glad RoadTrip mentioned it, I also typically top off each nights stay at WDW in the WS watching Illuminations. Then I run over to Ghiredelli for a hot fudge chocolate sundae. I'm sorry, but you would be hard pressed to beat a WDW vacation.

I like the Malestrom (which is far too short), but that is about all. If the World Showcase could had some E-Ticket rides that get my highest rating of approval, then I would spend more than 2 hours a trip in this section. I am not a fan of shops and restraunts. Sure the Blue Bayou at DLR is a neat experience, but that is only because it is inside part of POTC. I realize people like different things, but compared to DLR, WDW is seriously lacking for someone like me. After having gone to DLR in 2005, one of the only reasons I want to go back to WDW is to ride Everest. That being said I decided to go to DLR this summer, because it is impossible to have a Disney vacation if The Haunted Mansion is closed.

Although I've been to a few of the represented countries, I've never been to Norway and part of the reason why I want to go so badly is because of seeing its World Showcase representation. If it can encourage people to travel more, isn't that a GOOD thing? And as I think vbdad pointed out, a lot of people are never going to afford to experience the real thing, so surely a small taste of the culture is the next best thing.

Only 10 times, I could ride it all day if it didn't have those horrendous lines.

This is coming from someone who marathoned Dudley Do Right's Ripsaw Falls at IOA on a cold night in the December of 2004. Now that is what I call a fun time.

These same people would rant at you, oh Spirit, for sleeping too much while on vacation, not spending enough money to properly pamper yourself, foolishly hanging out at a pool when you can swim anytime at home, wasting your money on fine dining when you could have easily gotten your fill with a tasty burger (and saved a bunch of money, too!), and most important of all would think you're INSANE for not getting in as many Space Mountain rides as you possibly could do in a day!

    It's all in your perspective . . .

Let me say WS is probably one of the most unique experiences anywhere, not just WDW. A trip would not be complete without it.

Knowing what you like and what you don't. It makes things easier.

I can understand families wanting to see as much as they can if it is their only visit for years. They also may not want to have a sit down meal to save on time. It's too bad they miss the small things as that is what makes WDW different from other resorts in my opinion. But everyone has their way. If I only went once every five years or so, I'd probably do the same.

Both money and time spent on any of those three activities is always well spent.

    I couldn't agree more.

Different strokes, Danny. I can respect that. I may find some peoples' vacation habits strange, but I'd never be someone who thinks every spirit should vacation (or see WDW) as I do.

I'm never going to be into breakfast at Chef Mickey's, doing three parks in one day and never spending time at my resort ... but, for others, that's kewl.

FWIW, PERSPECTIVE is the word I've been using since I first started posting here.

I can appreciate other perspectives, even if I don't agree with them.

But EVERY word I write is coming from my own unique, experienced perspective.

And, even though this discussion is from another thread, it's why folks whose first visits were in 1997, 2001 or 2003, really, REALLY bug me when they start telling me things weren't better in the 70s and 80s and into the 90s.

    Perspective, my friend.

Highlight of my brief trip, Trippy.

Although Star Wars Weekends today at the Studios was a whole lot of fun too (and maybe I'll get around to writing about that in a few days).

But then again I can spend 6 days there and not feel like I've done it all.

There are veryfew places on earth where you can enjoy a stunning meal, in a highly themed environment, with really friendly service, and my 2 and 4 year olds are welcomed with open arms. Epcot offers that.
